Keeping prisoners in a certain area?
Hello all. Great game!

Just had a question. Is there a way to keep prisoners from wandering around the facility? I have a certain part fenced off from the rest of the prison, but during free time they will sometimes line up at the jail gates and guards will let them out. Basically is there a way to tell the guards not to open a certain gate for prisoners?

Thanks for your time!

Hi- you can do this by zoning areas as Staff Only. You can create little 'airlocks' to stop prisoners moving out of areas by using doors to create a zone. eg. Protective custody area, one way in and out- use 2 doors to create a one square 'airlock' in the access corridor, then mark it Staff Only. That way, the Prot. prisoners won't try to go out for Free Time (or whatever), and no prisoners will try to get in for Work eg. Prisoner cleaners.

Just in case you don't know, you zone areas using the Deployment Tab

Hope that helps.

It worked. Thanks again.

Now one more question, when new intakes come in, will guards escort them through these 'airlocks' so they can get to their cell?

Yes. Staff-only areas can be entered by prisoners if they have a guard escorting them.
