How do I remove broken electric cables?

I know you can just order them rebuilt, but my workers keep electrocuting themselves. So I switched off the power station and fixed it that way. But they dropped one cable on the floor, which is now disconnected but still electrocutes them somehow. I've told them to dump it but they get electrocuted if they go near.....

This is the nuttiest thing I've seen yet in this game. All my workers are electrocuted and I can't replace the stupid wiring! Who ever came up with this needs to be fired, lol.
