Says a lot for the new style, to be honest, since he's basically the one responsible for selling me on what most now call the "Rimworld style" in the first place. It was pretty simplistic and I almost gave it a pass, but once I saw it in action it looked charming. If not for that experience I'd have probably passed on Rimworld when it eventually came, too.
If he's happy with it, I'll probably be happy with it. Already PA2's style is reminiscent of that, in that I found myself not liking it at first, but really enjoying it once videos started showing off more of it in action.
In any case, that has no bearing on my comments or feelings towards the art style of PA2, which the team at Paradox expressly asked my permission before posting it there.
but for real, how many new features you planning on adding?
PA1's Tutorial was literally about you building a execution room for the dude who killed his wife who cheated him. He goes to church later on, and asks for forgiveness, Pastor advice him to turn himself him. FF at his execution date Pastor comforts him, while also commenting about injusticeness and how he'd get a life instead had he committed the crime 20 miles down the road (at another state iirc) to Guards that was about to take the dude to the chair room that you just have built.
The thing is, PA1 had a serious tone. The "Cartoony" graphics was a contrast to how serious actually on the ground. Gradually, that seriousness faded away and more Cartoonish elements taken it's place. Now we have literal Nintendo like figures that we have to in "meanie camp" rather than actual prison.
Will they require multiple patches over the course of several weeks to make the game "playable" like Skylines 2?
Within weeks of release, will people realize the original is still better and keep the player count of it far higher than the sequel, like Skylines?
In the wake of them just abandoning Star Trek Infinite, if it gets too hard to deliver as promised, will they just give up on it after 6 months?
I'm looking forward to this game like everyone else, but after their last 2 releases went so badly I am definitely waiting to see if it is good at launch...if it will be good after months of patches or if it will be abandoned quickly so I can get it at bargain-basement prices.
they kep this up and any game they try to push will flop
Or are we to expect an absolute disaster at launch such as KSP2 and CS2, both of which were over-hyped and horrible performance.
Are we also to expect another rash decision of only allowing the creation of mods on Paradox mods such as what we saw with CS2?
I've learnt from the past to never pre-order anything, PA2 is not different.
The change of art style is unfortunate but the idea of it being in 3D may make up for it.
Still again, with the amount of bugs you left PA1 with (Making a normal run almost impossible without experiencing some sort of game breaking bug), and in my opinion unfinished features.
How are you to expect people to buy (let alone pre-order) a game from a known publisher that drains every single dollar from a consumer through DLCs, often at times launching a new game which is soulless and featureless (Poor Imperator).
How am I or others to know, if PA2 will arrive with the same features you sold as dlc's in the previous buggy game. I'm talking about features found in DLC's for PA1 such as Gangs, Second Chances, Free for Life, Perfect Storm. Features that should have been in the base game or in free updates. Others such as Jungle, Future Tech and Undead Pack's can be sold as DLC's because they shouldn't be the base prison experience, but crucial thing's such as Gangs and Death Row shouldn't be locked behind a paywall.
Paradox and Double Eleven need to make up for the dumpster fire that is and was PA1, the game was great, it had everything there. It WAS the best Prison Simulator, but it was abandoned as a mentally challenged buggy, unplayable state of a game, with each consecutive DLC that paradox attempted to drain people's wallets with making it worse and worse.
Let future PA2 buyers know the answers to these questions.
Cheers
this.
In the current state and quality of every DLC, ..they should all be free updates.
Most it's just 1 half-finished mechanic + some reskined objects.
Playing with all mods together feels so uncomfortable and not well thought out. They do not lift the Prison Architect part of the game, more over they partial cancel each other and causing unlogic random events :/
