Prisoners are unable to be assigned to a cell
I have 17 Prisoners that cant be assigned to any cell. There IS room for them but the only thing they are doing is chilling in the holding cell.

Make sure you have your prison secured, no ways for them to just walk out and escape. If that doesn't work try removing the ''cell'' room on the door of the cell.

This is a new problem in my Prison. It worked great for the last 50 days. But now there are always some prisoners left in the holding cell. I toggle "Fill to capacity" and get new prisoners daily. The new ones get a cell. The other in the holding cell don't

What exactly do you want to see?

Marvin - we may be having the same issue. I was typing and getting screenshots on mine as you were posting, I believe.

does right clicking them into a cell work?

i played over 100 hours with no problems but since the last patch that introduced towers my prisoners are no longer taken to or from solitary unless i manually right click them which is a pain.

I have the same problem. Serious surplus of cells of several qualities, but a number (was 6, is now declining, I think because some have finished their sentence or passed the parole) of prisoners *will not be assigned* while new entries get assigned just fine.

Marvin, I posted this on mine but I wanted to make sure you saw it:

"I too couldn't find the prisoners so it was impossible to manually pull them. It started to cause trouble with people not having privacy and temp rising.

I DID how ever find a workaround.

I had to remove ALL cell designations - all single cells, solitary, family cells, dorms, holding cells and solitary cells. Then I had to wait for all prisoners to show that they are unassigned to cells. I then redesignated and that has fixed the problem for the time being.

I see no updates listed, nothing on Introversion forums, to explain why this popped up and it's happening on new saves, old saves, large maps and small maps. So I assume there was a small update for some reason or another that should have been nothing to our naked game eyes, but ended up causing this bug."

I already did this. But the Prisoners are not always the same. Sometimes nobody is unassigned(Often at night) and at day there are 5-20 unnasigned ones.

Off-Topic:
Do anyone has a tipp for Execution Lockdown? Even after 6 Hours there are some prisoners just walking around and I can't go on with the Death Row

Each update I have started a new prison, and only prison for update 3 has had this problem, it occurred after I built a 2nd building as a supermax wing. Can not locate who the (women) prisoners are that cant be assigned a cell. Currently I am going to try attaching the supermax wing to the main prison so it is one large structure. Have room for new prisoners in the dormitory and high security section, these were fine before supermax. I have not yet tried the new secure visitation booths but do have floor planning in place, but I know booths are not the problem. I went back to my update 2 prison and added security sniper towers and it has been fine so far there.

This fix only works if you wait until ALL prisoners are completely unassigned first. Remove designation and wait until the total amount of prisoners you have is equal to how many have no cell. If you try to set the rooms before the next sleep cycle (when they'd find they are unassigned entirely), then it won't work.

I've had this when contraband was found on a prisoner when they initially enter the prison (Reception room). I think it's because the prisoners must either go to solitary or be confined to their cell as punishment, but while they are in the "punished" state they can't be assigned a cell.

Building solitary cells fixes it for me. The guards send them there, they wait a couple hours, and get assigned a cell.

I did, no dice.

Solitaries in surplus in several blocks, still the same problem. But I'm down to 2 so I'll just wait it out. But it is an annoyance.

I have this problem, and it seems it's something to do with family cells and women with babies. I've got prisoners with babies all crowding into one cell, when there are more than enough cells for them. Only started happening when these family prisoners turned up.
