How hard/stressful is this game?
I do not like stressful or hard games. How is the difficulty and stress level of this one? Is there any time preassure?

No preassure at all

It is very fun and you make it ad stressful as you want.
You can have custom difficulties.
It depends on the New Game settings. For example you can enable Gangs, random Events, failure conditions, infinite money.
Then there are prisoner's Sec Levels.
Low, Med and Max sec prisoners all have different personalities and depending on what your Intake is they will cause different amounts of trouble.

There is no real time pressure in this game, since you can pause the action, and queue up your building, deployment, etc. Your workers still need time to build things, but you can take all the time you need for planning and orders. The only real 'time crunch' would be if you make a mistake (like not completeing your walls) and your prisoners escape or riot.

If you want a low stress experience, make sure you turn off 'events' and 'gangs' in the settings. Then just set your prisoner intake to a low number of minimum security prisoners per day. Having control over new prisoners means you can adjust the 'difficulty' easily over time. Just start small.

Sell a good working prison, then build another one with the cash you have, then you can have fun until you got no money anymore :)

The only time pressure you'll have is if you set failure conditions. If you disable those, then you you won't have the mayor bugging you about stupid crap. As other shave said, you can set custom difficulties.

I personally leave failure options off, and keep gangs and events off. I may enable gangs (you can manually edit saves to change options after starting.. as long as no events are in progress) later for an additional challenge, but I still feel I have a lot to learn.

Plus, you can simply have a small, easy to manage prison, or a large outrageous one. Its all up to what you want to do. Minimum security only? Sure, that will cut down on the stupid problems. You can make this game as easy or as difficult as you want.

Harder than boron nitride. Weaklings get shanked in the showers.

as everyone else has stated its as easy or hard as you want it to be. playing the tutorial will give u a much better chance to get better at the game. and the first couple levels prisoners wont fight. also there are thousands of mods to make the game easier or harder. its a logistic and managerment game. department of corrections just manages to be how u do it.

It can be quite relaxing, if you run a mimimum-security reform-oriented prison. If you choose an Alcatraz hellhole with gangs and max-sec only, not so much.

It depends how much you're into micro-management tycoon sims. It's surprisingly deep, from water management to food and laundry distribution to CCTV circuits to timed jail doors with servos and logic circuits. It's very much like a city-builder, except all your citizens want to kill each other and will bolt for the edge of the map if given half a chance.
