How to make license plates?

Just wondering.... How do you do license plates? I have finally managed to get two prisoners through the safety course (after 12 people failed...), but all they do is make wood into planks. I assume I need metal to make license plates, but where do I get that? I have both kind of tools btw (the saw-thing and the press-thing).

I think that the License plates are made when there isnt enough wood laying around.

Considering the wood is technically free it makes sense to use it up before buying metal for the license plates. The metal is delivered as and when you require it automatically.

Was wondering that. Theres a grant that requires Licence plates but you cant pick what is going to get produce over there.

One thing that bit me, that you should check: If the instructional program that teaches them how to use the shop is still going, the work hour will be used for teaching, not building. Put a Stop to the program when you have enough prisoners trained.

License plates:
First, Metal sheets are delivered to the workshop. then, they're cut on the saw, then they are pressed on the press. then, they are transported to the export area and sold.

figure out which part of it doesn't happen at your prison and why

If you want to produce license plates specifically just don't build any carpentry tables. If all you have are metal presses and saws then they'll cut sheet metal and your other prisoners will start making license plates. I haven't spent any more time than that to figuring out a workaround but that's my answer to the problem.
