Anyway to edit prison uniform color?

Im trying to edit the color of prisoners uniform, depending on their security level. Right now im looking at people.png but after looking around on the forums everyone has said its hardcoded into the game and that we cannot change the color of the uniforms? But then how do other mods change the uniforms of prisoners? Has anything changed because those posts were from awhile ago.

The security levels in game work by applying a colour filter over a blank uniform, and I don't think you can change it from the standard red, orange etc. You could if you wanted change the prisoner uniform sprite at the top-right of people.png, and this is how most POW mods work. Open main.dat in 7-zip to see the archived subfolders, people.png is in the main folder along with other image files.

What's hardcoded is that all of them are calling the same uniform sprite, so you can change that, but it changes for all of them and then the colors are just an overlay, also predetermined.

You can change clothes.png to alter their colours.
