How do you deal with Legendary prisoners?
Second time now, I've come across a prisoner who after finally being slain by a group of 8-12+ armed guards, of which 6-11+ of them are slain in the process, turns out to be --LEGENDARY-- with Extremely Strong, Extremely Tough, Extremely Volatile, as well as 4 other traits, this second one being Stoical, Fearless, Extremely quick, and Expert Fighter. This second one was WAY worse than the first one was, I couldnt even starve this guy out, He kept cycling between Destroying, and 2 other states I don't remember, constantly, and didnt die after 14+ days of being starving. (Locked in a solitary room with no doors to escape through) .....This feels absolutely excessive.

I can understand 2-3 modifiers on a single prisoner, with a higher possibilty of being 'extremely' of one of them, But SEVEN traits, Of which three are Extremely? And that synergize so well they can take out an army of armed guards in seconds before MAYBE being knocked into Unconciousness? I can't even put these guys in super max, They just freak out along the way (Theres that Extremely Volatile kicking in) murder my guards and everyone else nearby until I cordon off the entire area by walling them in. >_<

well, the only chance is to build them some luxory cells/solitaries, to satisfy their needs.

This will reduce the kick offs to once a day (if extremely volatile) or once 3 days (volatile)

with fearless they cant be suppressed by armed guards/snipers and with stoical they cant be suppressed by lockdown. So i would try to hold the armed guard away from them, as they easily get the guns of this armed guard.

Snipers, Dogs handlers, and Gaurds are what I use in my gang/legendary supermax. Trixi is correct that armed gaurds are just free guns for your prisoners. Just lock an "extremely deadly" prisoner in the room with the guy. You're lucky your legendary isn't extremely deadly, that trait kills more gaurds. Skilled fighter is harsh, but doesn't do anything to dog handlers. Dog handlers really are OK at beating up and knocking out prisoners, just wish they could get Taser certified.

Another less nice option if you really dont know what to do do with them is...wall up the cell and forget about um.

"Less nice" definitely goes out the window when they shank a squad of armed guards and go on a murder spree for kicks. :( First guy I starved out by locking him in a solitary area and sealing it in with a wall, second guy I ended up cordoning off 1/3 of my prison and losing a crapton of money to the damage he did, before eventually subduing him with armed guards and locking him in solitary to starve.. Cept he's still in there, not starving, and raging at the walls trying to destroy all the everything. :( VERY glad prisoners can't break walls at this point, and that he seems unable to tunnel in that weird spazzy switch between destroying and 2 other actions (I think one started with an S, maybe?)

I may just end up only accepting min and med security guys from now on, and just completely avoid max security, purely to avoid legendaries. Might consider doing death row though, but it'd be just my luck that death row prisoners can spawn legendary with 10+ effects instead of 7 n_n

Thank you for the tips though, will give it a shot with the next one I get. Still trying to finish the fifth campaign mission, the free-form one where it asks you to use everything you've learned.

Setting them to SuperMax and putting them in permanent lockdown with some luxuries in their cells (bookshelfs for oldschool CEOs / tvs & radios for CEOs) will suffice. Occasionally an armed patrol around or infront of the cell is the extra protection needed. Just make sure he has no contact with the outside world and change his regime so that he goes out to eat when the others are for example at lockup or something like that... Dealing with a legendary prisoner may become messy sometimes...

Hope I helped...

Only seven modifiers? You got off easy. I had this little gem dropped off by the Mayor at my wonen's prison, she was only 19 years old.

I built a MaxSec wing, threw all the gang members in there. No armed guards except at the entrance, but lots of dogs and tasers. She finally got shivved by a rival gang leader in the Great Riot of Day 63.

Is it good to keep a legendary alive? Dan Rodger is a pain in the end. Its impossible to keep him alive considering he is a Cop Killer. I keep having to sack my guards to keep him alive.

you just have to click on the gaurds kicking the s$&t outa him and right click on a location to send the gaurd there. It's a pain, but you can do it, I've keept legendary cop killers alive that way. As to if you want to it's up to you.. I avoid dteahs in my prisons, unless they are caused by a rightous execution, altough I will admit to modding 1 or 2 particlarly nasty buggers into DR (via trixi's dev mod), most notably this guy:
