Got power?

JUst a note, you have to draw the connection from the monitor to the camera. If you gp from camera to monitor, it doesn't seem to work.

You do it when the line turns red and both are connected to each other I think.

Aye ... the connection wire emanating from the cams themselves AFAIK only is there to make use from the fact that connections are passed through.
That means (haven´t tested yet with cams, only with doors + timer) if you do a connection from your monitor to one cam (lets call it Cam1) then you can connect Cam 1 to other cameras and all, Cam 1 as well as all other cameras will be connected to the Monitor.

I'm having a similar issue, I've got enough monitors for the cameras and they're powered but it's not letting me connect them with the new wire utility and is stuck saying that there needs to be a guard at the monitor for it to function but no matter how I try to have the guard stationed there it won't start working.

You don´t need to station a guard.
If you place the monitors into a security office (dunno if it also works outside of it) then guards will man the monitors by themselves.
This all under the prerequisite, that you have guards that don´t have anything else to do

Like I said "no matter how I try to have the guard stationed there it won't start working" I've tried posting a patrol with every kind of guard and having guards that have no assigned tasks but nothing is working, the unassigned guards won't man the monitors automatically like they do with the door controls and patrolled guards won't work on them either, plus there's the fact that when using the connect tool they don't show up as a valid clickable to connect them to the camera's.

Do your Monitors overlap with other monitors (or other furniture)?
Because if even one tile of the monitor overlaps with something else, this monitor might not work.
Each monitor needs its own unique 1-3 tiles that aren´t blocked by anything, as well as a single tile in front of its middle tile, where the guard is supposed to stand (a tile which also may not be blocked or shared with other devices)

I've just checked that and it's still a no go here's a link to the save if you want to download it and have a look for yourself it might be something that's system specific somehow or something that has gone wrong when I edited the save file even though all that was altered in it was the balance so that I could have free reign to try the new features and get a better grasp of them than I got from the official alpha update video.

Having a guard patrolled or stationed in the same room as door/camera monitors does not make them operate. Using them are considered jobs and you can see so when you hover your mouse over a guard who goes to it himself. As long as there are guards who are available (not busy/resting), they should naturally go and man them automatically, same as opening a jail door, etc except they stay there until tired.

they aren't doing that in my prison that's what I'm trying to say, they won't go and man the station on their own like they're meant to no matter what I've tried if you have a look at the prison I've put up you'd see that there's 3 stations one has a patrol set on it the other 2 don't and there's more than enough guards plus it won't let me connect them to the cameras
