Square shadows and graphics card

I was playing PA when suddenly the shadows in game turned into squares and it looks awful. I only just bought the game on Steam so it's up to date.
I uninstalled the whole thing and downloaded it again, but it didn't solve my problem so I tried safe mode. Now I'm really worried because I got a weird message saying the sprite sheet had been downscaled due to my graphics card limitations. I thought my GPU could handle this game, apparently it can't. My GPU is a Geforce RTX 3060 and my CPU is an intel core i7 10870H. Does anyone know if my laptop can handle this game because I was pretty sure it could and now I'm freaking out. Any help would be very welcome, thanks.

try running windowed
that "hardware limitations" message is exaggerating. it's just trying to launch the game cheaply

Thanks, that's a relief! I left safe mode because it didn't look very good, though the shadows weren't square, because there were no shadows at all. I got rid of shadows altogether, it looks better than black squares. I hope an update will fix this issue.

I don't think you can get better shadows without mods.
