well, unlike the owners of the game, the modding community usually fixes their stuff and sometimes even other people's stuff if you ask nicely/loud enough.
comment on the mods page to poke the creator to attempt a fix
post in the workshop discussions asking for "something like this, only it works"
use the workarounds of only zoning the export zone when you have processed all the wood you created into beds, only zoning forestry when you're out of logs to saw and implement the following cycle:
0. No Export Zone, no Forestry, trees are growing.
1. No Export zone, designate Forestry for chopping until you have enough logs for a while
2. No Export zone, unzone Forestry (some trees will be halfway grown or "ordered to plant")
3. No Export zone, workshops are processing all the logs into wood and into beds until you're out of wood and logs
4. Designate the Export zone and sell ALL OF THEM along with the licence plates you created in the meantime
5. Dezone Export zone - go back to 0
