I think the asylum is kind of annoying. One day I'm going to try to make a pure asylum, so I'm glad I got it, but right now I don't even have it activated.
in my experience, the best DLC are the free ones you get in the workshop. they're fully customisable game experience, you can usually get some responses from authors about bugs they cause, they're made with passion as a response to an actual player desire, and some of them are SO GOOD that Paradox keeps stealing their ideas!
Psych ward is ok, but not great, if you get it on sale its ok

island bound is just a collection of mods from the workshop that were free now bundled with a price tag (and so is going green)

I had one hell of a time building my Asylum either it was very bugged or very difficult to understand how to operate it properly either way it was not enjoyable. I highly recommended taking off the option that lets the AI determine if your other prisoners should be put in the phych ward. Becomes very frustrating. and the Orderlies are always acting very buggy. running around sonic fast and in weird parts of the prison.

Biggest DLC for this game: CombiPack in my workshop.
If Paradox would release that much content in an expansion, you'd pay at least $200.
Honestly Murgh's combipack is better than any/all modpacks installed - having said that I do own all of them to date and would say some features are good, in general they're minimally buggy, certainly not worth their prices for content value on their own unless you play a lot of PA and want to expand the core game features. I quite like the concept of insane sec inmates, although they're really minimal effort additions and could have been wayyy better. Cleared for transfer is good in concept also, it's a very real life prison feature and requires little micromanagement which is good, as well as adding security grading which means you can promote better reform and behaviour. If any DLC was worth it, it would probably be that (so far). Going green looks like another moderately half assed addition; so I'll be stupid for buying it, but will anyway. I strongly suspect even Paradox's attempt at gardening will pale in comparison to the very functional and broad coverage of Murgh's Combipack (will be interested to see if they have any future capacity to work alongside one another as I'd be saddened to lose the latter). Regrettably it does seem like almost all DLC coming out is just popular community creations made 'official' with a need for monetary input and claiming the work of hardworking modders.

They should put this on the store page. :steamhappy:
No.

1. The asylum "works", but is highly unbalanced. You get more per prisoner than max sec, but they never act out if you fulfill most of their needs OR give them access to a psychiatrist. Since they can't work, never act out, etc, it gets boring very quick.

2. Islandbound is broken, and most of the stuff included you'll never use. The alternative intake systems don't work. The contraband scanner is slow and less effective than a dog and metal detector. Checkpoints skyrocket heat. And for the islands... the water acts like land you can't build on. You'll still get a ton of thrown contraband, and prisoners can just swim away. Plus pathfinding between multiple islands is broken. Folks will never get to where they need to go.

Both DLCs are overpriced, and you'll never use them. Support Murgh's free content, that Paradox keeps stealing.

Exactly. Whatever you guys do, please do not buy their dlc. All it will do is add content already created by mods and fill your game with bugs. And they will get money from that when they don’t deserve it whatsoever.
The DLC will most lily be on sale when the new one comes out, if you get on I'd wait until then.
I wouldn't suggest buying any DLC until they fix the game to be playable again

I just hope they fix the major bugs like parole not counting or food policies during the event.
