There's a version history here:
https://prisonarchitect.paradoxwikis.com/Game_Updates
The original release (after alpha / early access) was in 2015 with version 1.0 and then the final release from the original developers is 2.7 in 2018. The section above that with named releases and DLC are all from paradox/double 11
(*To clarify, all DLC with actual content are from paradox. There is the Prison Architect - Aficionado DLC which is from the original developer but it's just an art book and a soundtrack that they used to give away if you bought developer support packages to help fund the game and it contains no actual in-game content (there use to be other versions as well like name in game, but again these were you funding the developer and they would custom make a character to be added to the game for everyone to use, none of that was actually DLC in the sense of being expansions or adding functional content ~ none of those versions are sold anymore, only the aficionado is left over from that era)
Downsides for me:
1. Vastly pared down amount of objects (my yard now has nothing but weight benches), needed to immediately add a bunch of doors. And no more comfortable beds, etc.).
2. A few different floor types got replaced with dirt.
3. Armed guards and dog handlers have to be manually assigned to patrol routes.
4. Less features (I'm playing vanilla anyways so all i'm really noticing personally is that I lost my scanner).
Upsides:
1. Reform programs all work way better (I actually have prisoners achieving general
education for...the first time ever actually)
2. Dogs function normally and actually sniff out contraband on a regular basis
3. Cooking doesn't completely bug out if a pot is left on a stove
4. I can finally freaking sell my prison again.
Over-all just seems like a far more functional game. I was surprised my save even functioned at all going back to such an old version. But I'm not having issues at all. It took me less than ten minutes to replace bits of flooring, doors, objects, etc. to get things running normally again.
1. Mods.
2. Mods.
3. Yeah that it be.
4. Mods.
Test mods one by one of course, some are outdated and some weirdly interfere with each other.
Make that 5
