how do i plant crops

i built a farm and a shed. researched farm but it still wont let me plant any crops.

You might need to turn off mods. I found mods were preventing me from doing that.

Yes

it only worked once for me on an island map but when i tried normal or jungle map it didnt work.

I'm on Jungle map ... so it's bugged I guess.

change terrain type to dirt. i.e. remove grass. then you can plant stuff.

i just tried again on a new island map and its not working anymore

not sure wtf is happening sometimes it works other times it doesnt.

im playing it on gog if that matters

You should be able to grow on Grass

I'm having the same problem. I made 3 fields (veg, farming and orchard) made 2 grass and 1 dirt and nothing is happening. Everything's researched and I have 2 farmers and a dozen or so qualified prisoners. They mill around saying they're working but nothing's being planted. I do have mods enabled but they're dumb stuff like Big Heads and Consuela the Janitor, nothing "functional".

Super duper hand holding tutorial:

1. Designate farm zone.
2. Remove grass.
3. Place crop you want planted from object menu.
4. Assign prisoners to work the area from logistics.
5. Hire some farmers.
6. Set up farming training in programs.
7. Build staffroom near farming areas or farmers will be constantly pissed off.
