Virus outbreak - here is how to deal with it
This is probably the worst random event you can get and it's quite tricky to deal with (hence some people find it difficult) so I thought I'll post a short guide based on my observations as I just had to deal with one and luckily I managed to stop it in it's roots.

0. You will need a place to isolate infected prisoners so it's a good idea to prepare and have a protected custody ward. Alternatively putting them into solitary cells also does the job.

1. When the doctor calls you and tells the bad news call the paramedics immediately and place them to the most frequent and busiest areas of your prison. If they find any infected prisoners before you do they will treat them and they *should* no longer spread the virus but it's better to put them into solitary/PC just to be sure.

2. The only information you get is the total number of infected (treated and untreated as well). Initially there are just a few of them so that's your best shot at dealing with the problem. Pause the game and look for prisoners that have a dark-greenish face, this is a clear indication that they are infected. When you hover over them they'll have a sick status effect and it'll also say whether they are treated or not. Untreated prisoners have a chance to spread the virus, I'm not 100% certain but treated ones should not infect others.

3. Do your best to find all the infected prisoners while the game is paused, this might take a while and can be difficult since not all prisoner's faces are visible at a particular moment. If you cannot find all of them then un-pause the game and watch the infected counter on your to-do list, then pause it again a few seconds later and try again. Use your paramedics to treat them as soon as possible and isolate them until they no longer have the status effect.

4. Once the number of infected prisoners matches the number of prisoners you isolated you got the situation under control and all you need to do is wait. It is very important to pay attention and stop the virus before it infects too many prisoners, as most likely you won't be able to isolate them all and hell will break loose if the virus infects too many.

Depending on your prison size and the time of day you might want to initiate a lock-down but keep in mind that it can also make the situation worse afterwards, especially if your prisoners are already angry when the outbreak happens.

Your info is outdated.

Ever since they introduced immunity the virus outbreak isn't that difficult, or important. Just plant paramedics/doctors in busy areas and they'll give everybody a syringe.
Unless the prison is really large, the re-infection of a prisoner is highly unlikely.

Anybody who has been "treated" is immune to the virus for a long period. Additionally, the disease doesn't really have any important effects, as long as it's not deadly. And the deadly virus can't be treated, so isolation is the only way to get that one done anyway, medics don't help.
Unless they updated it again and I don't remember.

I've never seen the deadly virus, is it still in the game, or is that just sheer luck?
