Dormitory has 2 bunk beds but can only fit 3 prisoners apparently?
So I'm using the pre built shared cell remplate provided by the game and just noticed that all my shared cells can only house 3 prisoners even though there are 2 bunk beds in each cell?

How big are the dorms? Each prisoner needs x amount of space minimum for it to work. My 4-man dorms are 4x4.

mine are 3x4

You might need the extra space for it to count.

Yes, having a 4x4 cell would work for having 3-Prisoners. I also noticed that your working with Dorms.
There is another Discussion that talks about this. Here is the link; https://steamcommunity.com/app/233450/discussions/0/2747650363467171414/
Benzin, setup the same dorm layout (3x4) and only has 2 Prisoners in each cell for a total of 96- Prisoners (48 Cells). They found out that having 2-Prisoners per cell kept there privicy needs met. Having more then that can cause there privicy needs to not be met.
Good Luck with you prison.

In a dormitory, Each prisoner requires 4 squares and a place to sleep.
So for example, if your dorm is 3x4 (=12 squares), it can only hold 3 prisoners, even if you have 4 or more beds.

That's great to know. And that also means the quickbuild is useless.
I personally think all the room restrictions should be removed, but if you cram too many people in, for example, they don't get privacy met. But I think there shouldn't be minimum room sizes. But the rooms wouldn't function as well.

I could use smaller kennels and parole rooms. They take up way more space than they need to.

Also the option for the room to have enough space even if it isn't a perfect square about it, like a long, but thin security room.

hmm thats interesting, thanks for the replies guys

Does anyone know any mods that can reduce this requirement?
TwistedYarnBall Oct 3, 2018 @ 10:24am
There are a few mods in the workshop that remove room size requirements all together, and there are a few that reduce the requirements to the smallest you need to fit in the required items.

tried out a couple mods for removing room size requirements but they dont seem to address the 3 squares per prisoner dorm limitation

Shame: I have to go to work now, but I'll have a nosey through some mods when I get in, in the morning, I find find any that work I'll drop a link. I'd like this too, really anoying if your making large dorms.
