Can you deliver food to a prisoners cell?
I am working on a both a supermax wing and a protective custody wing. I was wondering if I can deliver a meal to their cell using the secure door instead of having to assign different eat times to both protective custody supermax and normal security. If this is possible how can I make it so that the meal is delivered to their cell?

Delivery only if they are in perma lockup or solitary for longer etc

If you are worrying about the security during lunch time, send your guys to the yard with heavy suppression right before they go to the canteen. They will take the suppression level to the canteen and behave better. You can also seperat the population and make small canteens for a dozen inmates or so each.

If you have an inmate on a manually set lockup or solitary punishment they will bring him food

If you make them an own wing, you could just place a canteen and cooks bring food to the serving table

Okay but if I have them on a specific regime to keep them away from other inmates I cant specify that I want the meals delivered to their sells instead of them going to the canteen?

I will probably go for the latter. I was curious as I am only planning on having 5 supermax and 5 protective custody cells. Since my prison is going to take in medium security only those cells are only meant for exposed informants and repeat offenders. I doubt that they will see a lot of use which is why I didnt want to make a separate canteen for that little prisoners. Thanks anyways for answering my question.

This actually begs another question. What purpose does the secure door serve. If you can only deliver food to a prisoner in some very niche situations why pay 600$. According to the wiki it has the same health as a solitary door so you are mostly paying extra for the ability to deliver food to the prisoner behind the door without having to enter they're cell. Considering that you almost never deliver food to a prisoner you might as well go for a solitary door.

For example if you put a person in a long long solitary and this guy is volatile and deadly, you may don't want to open the door *haha*

But yeah it is a rare case and even funnier it is when a guard opens the door for a janitor to mop the floor :>

Yeah fair enough. Although it is a very very niche situation. Oh well I guess I am just disappointed since the description of the secure door really hinted at a mechanic to have prisoners dine in their cells. Thanks again for helping out.

Yes so you have to put your prisoners in permanent lockdown. I know that however I wanted to know if guards can also bring food to the cells of prisoners without them being in permanent lockdown.
