Problem with roll call
I have a small prison (around 40 prisoners) and i have active the mutator that makes them more likely to escape. Whenever I do a roll call almost half of the prisoners are late so a search is ordered. This creates a lot of work for my guards to do, plus when they uncover a tunnel the prisoners try to escape or fight them and with that many prisoners digging the same time this is a prolem. I can only imagine what a nightmare this would be when scaled up to hundrends of prisoners.

What I would like to see is having more control over roll call. I would like to be able to issue a roll call on a specific cell block. I don't see why when I want to check max sec I sould wake up min sec too. Also, it would be nice if failing to show up on time didn't order an automatic cell and prissoner search. Instead it should be missconduct and then we could choose what the guards should do from the policies tab.

Overall, I think it is a nice addition to the game since it gives you a way to deal with tunnel digging but unless I have more control over it I don't see me using it very often

Think so too. Almoust always when I roll call, half of my Prisoners get angry and start punching their toilets and ♥♥♥♥. This wouldn't be an issue if I had more guards but I try to keep the proportions as real as possible

You could try using the scheduler to deploy a horde of guards to the cellblocks during the hours you generally do rollcalls. More control, in general, would be awesome.

Yeah, I don't get why prisoners, even minimum security, get so royally pissed over a rollcall when mass searching their cells, if done one at a time, results in little to no outrage.

Honestly I haven't been seeing too much use for roll calls as they are. Even just issuing a prison wide shakedown seems like less trouble, nevermind the methods I currently use to find tunnels.

I run shakedowns while everyone is sleeping. The negatives from it time out quickly and you recover stolen items and uncover tunnels. Roll call just seems pointless to me.

To me, running a shakedown just to find tunnels seems a very inefficient way. I did it and I had 3 deaths before even searching half the cells. Also I tried to search just the cell block which resulted in one death. Since roll call creates the least amount of jobs, guards don't get distracted and there were no deaths, just a big fight ans some injuries. For me, the ideal would be to be able to issue a roll call in a cell block and have my guards do nothing when someone is late. Then I can manually order a search to those cells, one at a time, minimising the risk.

I run shakedowns every night cycle and never have deaths. Prisoners sleep right through the shakedown, even the part where they are searched themselves. As long as the shakedown finishes before they wake there are no negative effects.

It is not the shakedown that pisses them off but the uncovering of the tunnels. Normally this woulds't be a problem but since I have the mutator on there are a lot of guys digging and usually 4-5 in the same hole.

Does anyone seem to have problems with their generator when you do roll call? I did it once and now my generator doesn't want to work anymore. Don't know if I'm being dense or not, lol.

They get ticked for being searched, and the population gets ticked as a whole when a bunch of searches are conducted within a short span. Game explains that up top where their attitude indicator is. Shakedowns at night don't effect that because when inmates sleep the modifier resets. I disable tunnels and they get ticked during searches, so swing and a miss partner.
I use dog patrols close along the exterior walls (on the outside) and shakedowns every 2nd or 3rd night and then specific cell block searches if a trouble spot is identified. I've never used roll call - is it literally just to see who's a basketball and who's real?
