Green gang is slowly taking over my prison!
Hi there, I have a problem with the green gang, they are just unstoppable! and I don't know how to stop them! Whenever I punish their Lieutenant, Leader or another high rank I get a riot!
Greens already killed 3 Armed guards, 21 Guards with tasers and 4 dogs!
They are on supermax and they are still causing riots and other stuff!
Anybody know how to stop them?
Gangs in my prison:
Red (23 members)
Green (30 members)
Blue (29 members), also blue killed one of greens.
Every gang have a Lieutenant and Leader (Greens have two Lieutenants)

Put their leader in solitary permanent :) and put free fire on.

You have way too many gang members for one thing, it used to be that the different security levels weren't all that different, but nowadays you can hardly get away with having normal sec prisoners and expect them to behave, so having THAT many supermax prisoners is just a recipe for disaster. First of all, be on the look out for Instigators and Volatile, anyone who has any of those traits, stick em in permanent solitary unless they're also Stoical in which case just kill them.
Do not punish the leader of a gang, that will cause unrest to skyrocket, they usually don't get their hands dirty anyways, unless they're Volatile or Instigators in which case kill them.

Also be on the lookout for traits like Snitch and Ex Cop and stick them in Protective as soon as you can.

Do not let them claim any turf, especially places where prisoners HAVE to go, for instance if Green Gang were to own the only Yard and it's Yard time, once Red and Blue enters, it will kick off.

When it comes to max and super max, try to avoid letting them all gather in one place at once when possible, for instance put showers in the cells instead, saves you from having to deal with contraband obtained from showers if you're using mods and doesn't bunch up the prisoners when they're at the crankiest and they're always cranky in the morning before they've eaten. Having several different cell qualities helps as well to encourage good behaviour, they don't want to lose their top notch cells. And having access to a chapel is important as spiritual prisoners tend to be less rowdy once you've satisfied that need.

But frankly though, I'd just start over, the way you described things, it sounds like you'll soon have a staff strike on your hands with that many staff members killed and the number of gang members is just ridiculous. The absolutely worst thing about gang members is that they don't work, which means they don't bring in any money and they usually have high re-offending rates, they're overall just a drain.

I found it quite nice to put a single cell section away from everything, stick the leaders and lieutenants in there. No food to them as I lock the doors. Sit back and watch them slowly starve to death. Then free fire to mop up some angry gang members. You should get controll back soon after that. Cant have the leaders and lieutenants recruit more guys to their gang, thats why they got to die

Don't kill the leader as it will cause more issues and riots, infact don't kill any of the leadership of the gang since the game will just send more gang leaders/lietenants to you.

Locking only the lietanants and leader in supermax is you're best bet and if you want to legitimately get rid of them refer to my guide which explains a way to get rid of them.

move the LT's and leaders to super max if they can't get to gen pop they can't get new mebers

Actually they dont react at all if their leaders are in their cells and somehow the doors cant open so they starve. No reaction, and just do the same with new leaders. If you think its better to make a whole wing for supermax be my guest, but starving them is best imo.
You dont have to punish them to lock them in their cells :) Wait until bedtime, then lock the doors.

When I feel like they're getting too large, I label all my gangs as Supermax, put them in the supermax dormitory, lock them up 23 hours a day, and watch them kill each other. Throw in your non-gang Legendary and Connected prisoners to help them

Attempt to isolate the leaders and lieutenants and label them as super max, create a separate wing for them and label the dorm and entrance/exit as super max. Then, you just wait for them all to kill each other or leave your prison. In this wing, put at least 6 armed guards in there and put 2 sniper towers in the yard. Also, don’t forget about metal detectors and guard dogs, they’ll help keep them from having weapons and drugs on their hands while weakening their overall strength and to regularly search their dorm.

What I did was create a mini prison branch that was completely 100% seperated from any other prisoners just like protected custody. Doing this can also help you isolate other non-gang legendaries though you do run the risk of recruitment of the legendaries. Building/zoning a differant cell section isn't enough and total isolation from other prisoners is needed. Its pretty easy to airlock the supermax sector away from the rest of the prison, just create double doors and make the area between the doors staff only.

Bad idea since that would involve him dieing and if he dies the gang members will be pissed off and attempt to start a riot. You're prison will recieve another leader anyway which may not be worth it.

Better idea, let two lietanants of differant gangs into genpop on purpose, de-zone every common room except 1 yard of you're choice, wait for both of them to play the same area, get some popcorn, lock the doors once they're all in, sit back and relax. Then after send in some armed guards on freefire to finish off the rest.

Epicness, you are directly quoting the "How to deal with gangs" article. Right down to popcorn. Also, that solution requires your rooms to start being taken over.

Nope, wont happen if you just look the doors, aka DONT PUNISH THEM. Just let them sleep in heir own cells, lock the doors so they dont get food. And they slowly die. They dont seem to mind very much. For OPs problem, its better to kill off the leaders than let him recruit everyone to the gang. So much better to kill the leaders as they come.

Leader death can lead to an instant riot attempt. This can be avoided if you lock up all of the gang members in advance. I got sick of one of my gang leaders acting up, getting punished, and causing his whole gang to get mad, spreading the effect throughout the prison. I do admit to cheating a little by use of the Death Row Letter mod. Sent the leader and his lieutenants to death row and had them all executed.

During this time I sent the rest of the gang to solitary for days. It's important to not use permanent solitary or they won't be chained up and powerless. Their urge to riot lasted about 48 hours.

Even without the mod, if I can tell trouble is brewing (like the leader is off to a parole hearing and I know he ain't going to get it) again, send the whole gang into lockdown or solitary so they're in shackles and defang the entire gang for awhile.

With the numbers posted, solitary might be a bit overcrowded unless you got a lot of cells, so lockdown might be the better option. Tedious with how big the gangs are, but might be what is needed to bring things under order until you can isolate the leaders and lieutenants and seal them away from the rest of the population.

TLDR: Lock up the grunts, isolate the leaders and lieutenants. Dismantle the gang after order has been re-established. Kill if necessary by any means necessary.
