Here to help! Fire brigades (and all other emergency responders) have jail keys, so they can open all doors that are not remote. They can probably open remote doors too, but I'm not 100% sure. Just to be clear, you can either left click+drag to select firefighters or just left click the group GUI to select them. Once selected, right click a location for them to go to. Don't put them INSIDE the fire. They will obey, but they will die and will not move from in the fire themselves. Put them outside the fires and they will extinguish them automatically. It is noted that firefighters will not unload until their trucks reach the deliveries area, so make sure there aren't a surplus of deliveries backed up. There is currently no way to disable fires, however you can disable random events so fires don't happen unprovoked. Ensuring electrical safety and contraband security is a good way to prevent fires. Leaving a power generator in the same room as a water pump (which can burst in a random event) is a bad idea, because the water will cause a generator explosion. Inmates can also arson the prison. It's a good idea to keep high powered electronics away from water. Finally, once fire destroys an object, you must replace it. Just like in real life, fires are very dangerous, and you should prioritize fire safety. If budget allows, install a fire suppression fail-safe with sprinklers. Keep in mind, without power, the water pump station won't work, so neither will the sprinklers.
Hope this helps!
Best regards,
Tony
