Is there a way to preven "thrown" contraband?
I think i got the stolen contrabands pretty well under control now. Places that the inmates pass thru alot, like the entrance to the canteen, i have dogs and metal detectors, same for other areas like visiting room, workshops, shop, library, mail room etc. even main entrance of the prison.

The contrabands which are thrown into the prison however, i dont know how to deal with them.

Tha max range, contraband can be thrown, is just about 8 to 12 tiles. Define an outer perimeter for your prison, and draw a fence around it, to create a ~10-15 tiles wide "Staff only"-area between the outer perimeter and the areas, your prisoners are supposed to be in. When the prisoners can not reach the thrown objects, they will still be thrown, but not picked up.

You don't need a perimeter-Wall for this, and Fences are cheap.

You can also set up a guard patrol along the fence. Prisoners won't pick up thrown contraband if there is a guard nearby.

When i open the intelligence tab, theres a window on the right showing supply and demand of contrabands, i don't quite get the supply part. It still seems pretty high.

The supply is how much of a certain type of contraband is available for purchase on the black market. The demand is how much prisoners in your prison want a type of contraband. For example, if the demand for narcotics is high, you will be catching a lot of it trying to be smuggled through your prison's shipments.

The demand part is pretty clear to me. But i still dont understand what supply tells me. Or what am i supposed to do with that information.

Available for purchase on the black market? Where is this black market? Is it inside my prison?

Does it mean how many contraband of which type are still in inmates' possession?
Does high supply of weapons mean somewhere in my prison theres a huge amount of weapons waiting for be traded and purchased from other inmates?

Or is this black market outside somewhere and theres nothing we can do to change the supply value?

I mean our best interest is to make sure the prisoner dont get their hands on anything anyway, so why do I need to know about supply, which is somewhere out there out of reach anyway?

The black market is the crime organization outside of your prison that your prisoners use to order contraband. They order it through the phone booths in your prison, talking to relatives, or using smuggled cellphones. The high supply means there are a lot of weapons outside of your prison waiting to be purchased by inmates. There really isn't anything you can directly do to change the supply value. I've seen the supply go down after I caught a bunch of weapons trying to be smuggled into my prison in ingredients boxes (they weren't yet in my prisoners' possession). A high supply means that your prisoners are more likely to order it on the black market, so that is why it is important to monitor.

I hope this helps! If you have any more questions, feel free to ask.

Almost everything that guy said is wrong. The supply is the amount of a particular contraband that is already circulating in your prison, or on it's way in on trucks. It is contraband that is already on the map. You can reduce the amount of supply by making sure you have guard dogs sniffing out smelly contraband and metal detectors placed through out your prison. Combine those with regular shake downs to reduce the amount of contraband in your prison.

Hey, Mr. Smarty Pants, thanks for clearing thing up! You literally just paraphrased everything I said besides the commend on whether "supply" is inside or outside of your prison. I do actually agree with you that I was wrong on the "supply" comment. I performed some further research and saw that supply is already in your prison. And, even if I am wrong, you can say it in a less snarky way than "almost everything that guy said is wrong."

Oh wow, then im actually doing really really bad.

I thought I have contrabands reduced pretty well, thrown contrabands are gone now, only the ones that are brought in from outside thru the main gate, or smuggled thru visitors, but i already have metal detector n dogs guarding these 2 places. From time to time they might steal a syringe from the infirmary or a drill from the workshop. And thats about it.

Then i looked at the supply chart and everything was still pretty high in supply.... even freshly after a shakedown...

It is difficult to Tell where your security holes are with so few Insight into your prison.

Maybe Just Put your Savegame into the Workshop so weit can have a Look at it.

A few General hints:

-Place a closed jail-door between your detectors and the prison. Workers will Not Stop If they carry Something that triggers the Alarm and a guard has to follow them through half your prison. A jail Door forces them to Stop.
-have More dogs than you need and Place as many kennels as you can. (Can be Placed inside and Outside). Dogs get very tired very fast and move slow. So to few dogs and to Long walkways May result in your patrols being abandoned half the time.
-a Dog patrol, following the street up and down is able to sniff boxes and prisoners before the Trucks and Busses are unloaded.
-prisoners, Catched by detectors or guards and dogs May be able to trade Contraband to other prisoners nearby, so the searching guard will Not find anything. Use multiple detectors, have guards stationed nearby and try to avoid bottlenecks where to much prisoners Pass through to few detectors to avoid this.
-make Rules, that If a prisoner is Catched intoxicated or Drink or carrying any Type of Contraband, He and His cell are searched as Part of the punishment-system. This also help with Tunnels.

When did you do the shakedown? A good time for that is when everyone's gone to sleep. They can't get fresh contraband in their cells (unless they have the Connected trait). If deliveres came by with contraband in them, you may need to screen them more thoroughly and check places like the kitchens once in awhile.

Oh these are good tips, i wasnt doing these 2 things.

I might upload a screenshot of my prison later, it's not anything fancy and I am doing some relocations right now.

Yeah, shakedowns have a 50-50 chance of really working, because there is always the chance the guard will not find anything. I did a shakedown in my prison once (with cheats) and activated the contraband viewer cheat and saw that it was almost completely ineffective. What I would do is use your Confidential Informants every night so you know exactly where to search. That will prevent you from angering the entire prison during a shakedown and will also increase the accuracy of the guards searching techniques. Just make sure that the CIs you use have at least 50% coverage of your prison for this to work.

Yeah Im already checking the delivery crates with metal detector and dogs right at the main entrance.
And i actually dont do shakedown alot, mainly because i never remember to do it.
