How do you make mods? [Help Community!]

Hi I'm interested in making mods for Prison Architect. Specifically I want to make a mod that allows my prisoners to compete in a boxing tournament. Winners getting money for there fights and me. It's a bit ambitious but someone needs to do it I feel.

So how do I start? I know some programming langauges like C++, Java, and Python at the basic level for those curious.

First of all, start by thinking about another mod. Boxing won't work. The reason is obvious: as soon as two prisoners are boxing, they fight. So guards will come rush down the boxing ring and fry and beat the living crap out of them and put them in solitary.
