I think Escape Mode should be more interactive.
True to it's name, escape mode lets you play the role as a prisoner who wants to get some fresh air of freedom. But there must be something to do other than escape, right?

*tries to grab food tray but punches it instead*

Oh.

The thing is, i want the prisoner you're playing as to have needs, money, etc. It seems boring to have a prisoner who doesn't need any food and can survive forever without it. There should be a menu on your prisoner that shows needs, as well as how many money he has. The needs, i'm sure you know how it works, but what about earning money?

1. Selling contraband.

Contraband is common in a very large prison. And people are smuggling it and selling it to everybody else, while trying to not get caught.

Your prisoner already can grab contraband from certain rooms, im sure you know that. But what about selling them? No. You can only just drop it for a certain prisoner to grab it, without repaying you back.

There will be a button that says "Sell Contraband" when you face a prisoner with your mouse, aswell with the statistics he has. Then you can select one contraband in your inventory to sell to that particular prisoner, for cash. You can also instead buy contraband if he has any, which you can use the money for.

Contraband price will

2. Doing jobs.

I had switched to people in my squad while they are doing their jobs, and cancelled what they were doing right now.

In a room that is open for jobs and in the work/freetime or work/lockup you press enter to start a job. There will be a quota at the lower right corner of the screen. When completed, you earn cash, but if you run out of time, you will automatically be dismissed and wont be able to do the job again until the next day.

Same with programs, except you dont earn any cash, you dont have to wait another day to try again, the quota will be more longer, and you will graduate from it like other prisoners.

(Any more ideas about earning money, post in comments!)

Also, makers of the game, pls fix the guard still making you return to your cell if lockup has already gone and a different regime starts.

1. I am not >against< the implementation, so what I'm saying is not bashing your ideas, I'm saying there are more important things.
2. It's not going to happen, Escape Mode (and PA in general) is finished. They might bugfix a few things but no more extra features.
3. Instead of deeper player personality the game needs more goals and objectives. There need to be more ways to escape and cause trouble instead of "being social".
Social interaction has no long term use for a prisoner, it doesn't help you escape.
4. The contraband system would need a full rework before a proper trade could benefit anybody in a predictable way. It's too random and luck reliant.

As mentioned, the game needs more objectives and playstyles. "Being a prisoner" is not fun, you'll be bored after a single day of "doing work".

I'm not sure if some things you said are right, but you could buy contraband with the cash you earned without having to go inside rooms and risk being detected. (or having a hard time getting contraband if all the rooms have so many security just to stop people smuggling.) And i also find it a bit humiliating for other prisoners to get caught because i gave them drugs, booze, etc. It can still be done by dropping the items, but what i've noticed is they never pick up any tools or weapons from the ground, only narcotics.

Buying contraband can be less riskier than trying to steal them. (because dogs and detectors on every possible room with things, while you can get them from an inmate in a cell in the same cell block and make it more easier to stash it.)
