Pressure Pad usage
What's some good uses for Pressure Pads? If you place them on both sides of a door, doesn't it just turn them into regular doors, rather than keeping them out? And if you place them on one side of a Jail Door, doesn't it turn them into a reverse Jail door, but if it's a regular door won't it open anyway, l mean...

Like, if I put them on the outside of a parole room, alowing prisoners and lawyers to go in, but if the prisoner goes nuts, a guard is required but nobody can get out without a guard... is that a good use?

Ugh, it hurts my head. How should I use them?

Should I put them on the outside of my main prison door, halving entry-exit issues for workmen and visitors?

to let people in is ok but not out
If you're using road gates, you could maybe put a pressure pad on the footpath leading to and from the prison. Place a pressure pad a few steps before the gate, put a servo on the gate (If possible), and connect the pressure pad to the servo. If done correctly, this should streamline people coming and going from the prison, which could save you some time and/or guard positions.

They can also be used to work remote doors. If for example, there's a remote door leading into a room where the door control system is, but there's no guard at the system itself, one can use the pressure pad to unlock the door so they can man the station.

Another use could probably be an airlock to the yard or any outside place where contraband can be thrown into the prison. Make a two-tile-wide corridor leading to the place and two pressure pads in front of two solitary/jail/staff doors (Remote doors don't work so well here, because guards can't open them, but if they see someone at a solitary/jail door, they may rush to open it for them). Use a logic circuit with the logic gate "And" enabled and connect the pressure pads to the circuit, then the circuit to the servos controlling the doors. This is intended so that the inmate cannot retrieve the thrown contraband without a guard being nearby. Make sure there's a dog handler patrol and metal detectors before the airlock. That way, the guards or dog handlers will more likely automatically search them while your attention is elsewhere. So basically, inmate goes to grab thrown contraband, needs a guard nearby to stand on a pressure pad with him. Inmate retrieves contraband, sets off metal detector or guard dog (Unless it's something like a cellphone which is not considered metal or smelly), gets searched, contraband nullified.

This latter one is a doozy to make, but a good contraband buster. To summarize the structure: Double-door (Solitary, Jail, or Staff doors. Staff works best, so your other staff can pass without needing a guard) lock with door servos
2 pressure pads connected to Logic Circuit marked "And"
Logic Circuit connected to door servos
Metal detector and dog handler nearby to intercept contraband.

If you like, you can add a status light for each pressure pad that will light up when the pad is pressed. You can have the Logic Circuit connect to a Status Light and then the light connect to the servos as well, instead of Circuit to Servos directly. Whichever you prefer.
