Updating Prison Architect (Content File Locked)

Just as the title says, I am having an issue where I cannot update my Prison Architect. I haven't found a solution at all, and have had this problem for a couple months now.

Can anyone give me a suggestion/solution on how to fix this?

have you tryed to delete the game and reinstall it?

No because everything I read said that never fixed the problem. I've tried opting in and out of the steam beta (which also forces the download to start over) and that never did anything.

i woud try deleting the game and reinstall anyway. dont trust what you read on forum always :p. dosnt take long . i alway do that first if i have problems. 90% of the times it get solved.

I have re-installed the game and am still stuck with the same issue. Next?

I had this same problem. I managed to fix it by uninstalling the game, then going into the steam files and deleting the folder for Prison Architect. Then I reinstalled it in a different drive then the one before.

Nope :/ Still can't play! :'(

i deleted then installed to my C drive (was on my D drive originally because for some reason it had more space)

not sure if that helped but now I'm stuck with my original problem of Prison Architect not working so yah

Someone suggested that, so I tried it. It never worked unfortunately. I don't know how to resolve this and there has never been any input from the devs either unfortunately. I've spent hours googling this and never came across anything that worked... it sucks!

I had this exact problem.
My issue was it was my antivirus that had locked the file; no fault of the devs except that their exe file creates some issue the antivirus doesn't like. Open your antivirus, look for quarantined files, or some list of files that it has issues with. Add it to your exceptions list, and remove the quarantine. Hopefully, there's nothing really malicious here.... but yeah, that worked for me.

same issue.. played the game but everytime i close the game, its missing a file. so go to validate it and content file locked. install of different harddrive and same thing...

I just resarted my whol computer and now it works fine
