Are hoverpod weapons supposed to work this way?
What is even the point of a weapon that overheats almost immediately when it's used? Maybe their damage is overtuned now but why not just make it a low, but consistent damage weapon that heats up slowly so that they're actually usable?

Or equip like 3 or 4 burn resist chips and the energy regen on crit chip.
Behold you now literally never need to turn them off.
i just ignore burn damage lol. im not sure why, but it ticks so low i dont care. Now hitting myself with a ricochet round.... that hurts.

Does that actually even work?

My point still stands though, these weapons are poorly designed when you can have them active for literally only like 2 seconds and they're already overheating.

you could also get a bunch of ice shell chips and they will get cold instead. the thing about this game is that there are a bunch of things you can do to affect your build with chips.

Possibly because there's a way to fire them while using two other weapons.
Use a head with 4 weapons, put the hoverpods in your spare arms, then equip Auto Pod skill.
4 weapons firing at once!

P.S. if you don't equip lots of cooling stuff, you'll exceed Overheating and go to Blaze where you'll take massive damage, so don't do that

Simple overheating does negligible damage and can essentially be ignored once you have skills like Regeneration. In fact, it can be advantageous to go to Overheating (e.g. use Fiery Gaze and Heat Wall to increase dps and reduce damage taken while overheating). Just don't go to Blaze... Having enough cooling will prevent that. I 100%ed the game with an overheating build where my Arms were effectively permanently overheated.

Auto Pods seems to not count as "acting", and thus overheat damage ticks don't apply unless they go blaze. This is good because it means they can always benefit from firey spirit/whatever app boosts damage while overheat.

Combine with snowflake shells so you never go blaze, and add Sentient bullets/Pierce/Tunneling to make your bullets cover-ignoring pingpong rounds. Season with as much bullet speed as possible and watch enemies evaporate one screen at a time.

Easily one of the most OP weapon types, and I got the godspeed achievement using a pure hoverpod build in under 8 minutes.

There ARE apps that benefits from Overheating, and also increase cooling performance when Overheating. While a weapon is in Overheat, as long as you don't use (pressing a button to activate) them they won't cause damage over time.
