what are those floppy disk for?
Do they make you stronger after getting them, or are they just for converting to Dchip at the end of the run?

They're abilities that activate as soon as you pick them up. You have to go into the disk shops and analyze them to unlock their description (there's like over a hundred so it's a learning process). This also will unlock them permanently to equip at home base.
basic game flow for progression is running "raids" for 1 of 3 purposes. unless for some reason you have a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of currency you may be able to accomplish a couple.

1- Pushing- trying to progress to higher floors. you dont have to give a ♥♥♥♥ about anything but trying to stay alive, tryin to keep your arm alive to get as far as you can.

2- Disk farming- The main way of making you AND your arm stronger aside from spending currency On OS. Disks have abilities that you can unlock at stores when you analyze them. the Blue floppy disk stores during lvls are where you need to go. you can just hang out on whatever floor feels comfortable and kill things, collect disks, sell the ones you dont want, unlock the ones you do. (you dont have to fight the miniboss on each floor you can stay on current floor by just leaving through another door.)

3- Arm Farming- My favorite part of the game. You'll need quite a bit of currency to analyze arm parts but the Yellow stores that have a wrench/robot limb are where you go (WHILE DRIVING THE ARM YOU WANT). once in the store you can repair what your driving or analyze any of the pieces to unlock them at home where you can make your own arms.
Super fun and you can make some super cool robots. stats are somewhat different between parts but as previously mentioned, the biggest boosts in power for arms and you as the player are going to come from Disks. Note: i think the cheapest ARM to analyze starts at like 2k chips. so make sure you got a fat wallet if this is the goal of the run.

Side tips: those green phone booths let you gain rewards from the achievements youve unlocked in the game. they also work as kind of a bank. if you have money at home you can pull it out from these for a run if you say randomly come across a disk or a part you really want and cant quite afford and dont have the time or life to farm for it.

ive never made it past floor 3. but this is all ive learned lol
Basically disks are like "passive skills", that provide some sort of bonus while equipped (usually positive, some maybe not for most cases....)

I forget exact names, but as general examples
A "Labor Movement Speed+" disk, makes the Labor (lil' person bot) move faster.
A "Arms Movement Speed+" disk, makes the Arms (Robot mech suit/vehicle) move faster.

Various different damage boosts or other effects.... one adds bullet speed and range. (one reduces bullet speed/range!)
Some add resistances to different types of damage.

Some chips add other features, like bonus drop rates, or a DPS or Combo counter on screen.

Just "picking up" a chip in battle temporarily activates the effects, for the remainder of your run. You lose it when you die and return to base.

To keep a chip, you need to :
1) Find a "Disk Shop" (on map, a floppy disk icon; only available on 2nd run forward) -
2) Spend coins to "Analyze" the disk. Price varies on rarity and level.
3) On your next run, when customizing Labor before you go out - you can "Equip" the disks you analyzed. (up to a limit, which increases based on total levels gained.)

Disks stack, so if you have 2 copies "Arms Movement Speed+" active, it's faster (and more expensive).
If you have one "Equipped"at the start, pick up a 2nd copy - that 2nd is still temporary until you Analyze the 2nd copy.

So basically, each run you'll want to keep an eye out for Disk Shops to Analyze new disks you pick up, so you can customize your loud out for the next run.

Don't forget the weird little "data access terminals" you can use like an ATM, to pull money out for Analyze fees.... so far I've always found at least one on a map that has a shop.
Disks give you passives, purple disks usually come with severe downsides

You can't do anything with them during the tutorial run because shops are locked but...

On any runs after that you can go to a disk shop and analyze them by spending D-Chips. Doing that will reveal what they do as well as adding them to your permanent inventory, allowing you to use them on future runs without needing to find them.

When you check a list of apps there are several types:
1. Analyzed and equipped: Affect your stats. Customizable at base. They consume capacity.
2. Analyzed and not equipped: Don't affect your stats. Customizable at base. Don't consume capacity. When you find new app disks during the run those will overwrite these slots after you run out of empty ones. So if you have analyzed previously some app with a limit of 1 but didn't equip it you can still get it during the run and it will become active.
3. Collected during the run, Not analyzed: Affect your stats. Don't consume capacity. Will be sold at half price when ending the run. Can be analyzed in shops or sold for full price.
4. Collected during the run, Analyzed: Affect your stats. Don't consume capacity. Can't be sold anymore. Disappear at the end of the run and become "analyzed and not equipped" so you can equip them while at the base if you have enough capacity.
Does the app that increases bullet speed and range increase the range to lock on targets with missile launchers or is that something else?

Floppy disks are merely perks for the run.
Analysing them just saves them for subsequent runs in your list. Allowing you to enable or disable the abilities of them.

Light Blue/Blue are usually common skills.
Purple discs are benefits with negatives.
Yellow/Flashing Yellow are outright amazing skills at the highest rarity.

Only discs I wouldn't recommend is Ricochet skills since they can do damage to yourself.

Ricochet is amazing on the crossbow and I will not hear otherwise, laser weapons too if you have tunneling effect

Richochet also works on the charged attack for fists to hilarious effect.
