RAID: Shadow Legends

RAID: Shadow Legends

My Greatest Frustration with RAID
So I am half a month into the game right now. I have played quite a lot and it´s initially very addictive. But the addiction is starting to wear off already, because 1. things get so repetitive and 2. there is so little point in collecting.

What do I mean by 2? Let´s say at some point you have 5 fully developed characters, why even take the trouble to develop additional ones? There are no mass battles where you can use more than 4 or 5 at the same time, so I am not much better off with 20 Epics than with 5 and the same would be true for Legendaries ultimately. I am now at Level 27 with my account and I can see the game becoming completely pointless once I am at level 50 or so.

There are no real stretch goals. I mean I could hope to find a handful of Mythics over a very long time, but who cares? Am I right? Or do you think I am overlooking something?

Oh no 4 or 5 fully developed characters aren't going to cut it for harder content, you will need to grow your roster as you go higher and higher in content and difficulty. Just REGULAR Faction Wars alone will require you fielding decent squads for EACH faction - thats dozens of characters right there alone. You will end up having certain customized squads for some of the dungeons too - like a turn meter team for Fire Knight, a team for Ice Golem that won't kill itself, a spider team that will crowd control spiderlings, etc. Then you have Doom Tower and certain bosses require almost very specific teams, like Scarab King requiring Destroy HP champs along with turn meter control champs and a reliable shield champ to prevent your team from getting provoke-locked.

Thats just the tip of the iceberg, 4 or 5 champs? No try DOZENS, upwards of 100 champs easily.

I see what you mean. But I am afraid that´s a lot of tedium for very marginal gain.

It´s not like you are exponentially growing with progress, it´s more like exponential decay. I am already feeling in the 3rd week how much my progress is slowing down.

I expect to reach the point where the grinding no longer feels worthwhile after a month or so.

Add to this that 3/4 of the beautifully crafted characters are worthless and will only be used for food. It´s such a waste.

I'd say this style of game is not for you then. This isn't a 40 or even 200 hour RPG, you beat and thats its. This is a multi-year roadpath requiring lots of time (or money if you do want to take shortcuts). This is like Pokemon on steriods.

I agree with your general idea. Though I would not mind a multi-year roadpath if I was creating an ever more powerful empire, but that´s not quite the case.

I miss being able to create an ever larger and stronger army to fight mass battles and conquer territories. And I suspect they aren´t gonna add that anytime soon.

this game is not a sprint but a marathon, similar to Black Desert online. u cant realy rush it even spending $$$ like a whale.

Yeah, I'd say this game sounds even less like than what you are looking for. This is a party-based sort of collector RPG, not a Total War style game.

I was not even planning to spend a single cent. Though I am now tempted to buy the advanced apprentice package that seems decently priced for once so I can speed up seeing the remaining content before I quit.

Ttrue, I had hoped it would be more like a 4X.

Well, it's not about the number of champions. It's about how you use them... this game has very deep mechanics and hence a lot of tactics that are not obvious to ordinary players.

The question is use them for what? The game is ultimately rather pointless since all you can achieve is get more marginally useful champions and advance them to higher ranks which is also marginally useful.

And that´s it. There is no real ultimate challenge to beat.

there is ultra hard contents, such has boss clan, tower of doom, cursed city and ultimatly there is pvp wich is insanely hard to win since its p2w af + rng af. ^^

this game is like pokemon for adult gambler addict, its almost impossible to finish since they had content every month to pay for gambling.
