The boss guide is a convoluted mess, to me it would feel much simpler to compare the Chimera to the Cursed City, being like a distilled version combining everything in some form...and be done with it (but I guess the writer spent the alliteration budget way too early already!).
Though I know that would have been way too little information too, something between nothing and everything from everywhere all at once would have been nicer.
And the page says nothing about how trials specifically work, ie order of completion, do I need to do all easy trials to get the next of each? (aka easy trials 1-3 first, then normal, etc) Or can I just go through them in sequence each? (aka pick my poison, ignore easy 1, do easy-normal-hard of 2 and whatever with #3 - this option is from my pov implied but not specifically mentioned), maybe it's there and I overlooked it but *gestures around wildly*
Obviously NOT talking about trials that require doing X thing in or within all or some of a given form's turns, but just thinking about them makes me believe that some are built exactly for that possibility as they just state doing xy within 3 of its turns, so this will be good for people who have better/rarer champions covering more bases doing it all in one go.
it also wasn't specified, merely implied as far as I could tell, how rewards/additional rewards work, from what I gather though, rewards are the usual chest(s, which the descriptions in the FAQ made it sound like it's somehow much more than what we're used to with clan bosses but it's still just the chests) and "additional rewards" being the rewards from individual trials as the screenshot seemingly shows. It wasn't specified if the trials were once-a-week-each rewards, or complete-and-reap-as-often-as-you-like rewards...seeing how relics are part of trial rewards, I doubt we're being given the chance to get that more than one, so the most likely scenario once-a-week for individual rewards. Which also still begs the question whether completion carries on or has to be done in one single key use.
As I have yet to pick my first fight effectively, I can't fully confirm it just yet but at least I am somewhat lucky I guess. My first fight was a rather defensive one because I reckoned with a wrecking but ultimately found the Chimera's bites to be lacking...it will most likely be very different with trials completed, seeing how the percentage numbers spell doom in BIIIG LOOOMING LETTERS! My regulars did roughly a million damage per phase but could only do a single trial...luckily regroups are also free so I stopped after 8 million...and thanks to Cursed City I have actually kept many Champions that I normally never need but in there can get some mileage out of.
It is the predictable clusterfudge throwing gimmick after gimmick at you though. It didn't take long to figure that the best course of action is to use as few de/buffs as possible but as many as necessary (I REALLY didn't get far in the FAQ), so I guess similar to Necropolis and other things, this will most heavily be a pain in the common nuker's neck. Luckily, my very own champion roster is so bad I don't have to bother trying to build a one trick pony team, nothing against ponies though.
That said, with Ultimate Death Knight, Geomancer, Petrifya, Klodd and Vergis I covered all the gimmicks I was willing (and and feasibly able) to cover (going for perfect/veil I would have had to go too far out of my way, which thus had caused me to wail, I'm not a whale after all, is what I intend to convey, and don't worry, my word play budget is limitless, though I know others resistance to it is not). Though I guess any dedicated healer and tank will do when just facing the lower difficulty/difficulties. I just hope it works out as I have planned, but Vergis I am most unsure about because I rely on him buffing himself and it properly counting (the trial says it doesn't count *counters* but who knows what else may apply in the given scenario, Hydra battles don't say ship about THEIR turns counting for the big gulp). Most people even remotely more advanced will have Frozen Banshee readily available and powered up, if not a much more fitting champion that can do more at once...but I got Frozen Banshee rather late and wasn't in the mood passing on other champions in her favour, or Gravechiller (sic) for that matter, didn't have the resources to build a specified demon team yet either but their "unkillable" comp is popular sooo...it might be an easier pick for guided players. I do have Orn (Myciliac Priest, aka Shroom Guy, not related with Doom Guy, I presume) but the poor fella is still in the same status I got him, save for the 3 star soulstone awakening...also Petrifya is the only one in my specific team who can place def decrease on top of poison/sensitivity debuffs so ditching her would mean losing out on either as I have no substitute.
Okay, *now* I know poor AI-Arbiter said and meant the keys regenerate after 6 days, not over 6 days...and I don't know how trials and their completion do or do not work over several keys...If I don't end up disillusioned because Ultimate Chimera is handing my ass to me, I'll update this with the missing bits I had questions left over (way fewer than before since realising the FAQ isn't the boss guide). I also dread the difficulty of Chimera where somewhat steamrolling gimmicks is no longer an option and I'd have to rely on Chimera-proofing Champions...I don't have a single dedicated composition for any feature of the game, no way I can run this one through with my patchworkers, I still have to even 5-star Petrifya and get her some scrolls past basics (I did by now but time will tell whether it will have been successful). The others are doing better, Just Geomancer and Ultimate Death Knight have the mastery board filled.
One question that could only be answered by someone knowing it in advance, is whether rotations only swap affinities or trials too (FAQ implies...oh well, I forgot again)...though I'm guessing more importantly trials...because I was wondering why there was no Hex (or bomb/Heal Reduction) requirment, the answer is probably just "not YET", it would be a welcome excuse to finally build up Vildrax or Thylessia.
somewhat random side note: not sure how many characters share similar descriptions but I think none irked me as much as Sepulcher Sentinel's did, the skill description of her passive, Untouched by Death. The two half sentences swapped sound less like a confusion (unless what I took for confusion is actually the intended one, some clarity could help in either case) More specifically: "If multiple allies are attacked at the same time, will only block damage for the targeted ally." rather than the other way around, because the other way around it could be interpreted as the block exclusively working on a target ally IF several allies are attacked at the same time.
Opinion noted.
