It is 100% optional, as you're given shards from completing the basic missions and progressing through the campaign etc.
You do understand the irony of claiming the game is pay to win, whilst also claiming that you're gambling. Key word being gambling, as you're very likely to not get the champs you deem to be "pay to win".
Then there is the brick wall of progression, given how all areas are locked behind a level cap which cannot be bypassed. Then lastly there is the gear/knowledge required to progress/be competitive.
Also I have multiple f2p accounts all of which are more than capable of doing mid-end game content. It is always the same boring "you need to pay to get far" argument which is redundant. Eharbad is totally free to play has numerous high end champs, a huge collection of shards and completes end game content etc is proof alone that this game is 10000% viable as a f2p, it just requires knowledge and patience.
And considering that you can buy literally anything in this game it's clearly also pay2win. Just because you can also play it without paying any money doesn't change this fact. I don't get why the whole 'but I can get to the end game with a free2play account' is even an argument for wether a game is pay2win or not. It would only really qualify for the question if a game is pay2progress...
RSL is truely a prime example fo a paw2win game. Denying that fact simply means that you have a misconception regarding the meaing of that term.
...so like I was saying, Players dislike this game because it has loot boxes and beause it is pay2win. And I am talking about their definition of these terms and not yours.
Being unable to differentiate between gifted items and purchasable items has pretty much made your entire response and general argument to be void. Your only argument is loot boxes/gambling even when you've been told that none of that is necessary to progress your account as f2p.
No point in adding anything else to this topic, you appear to be stuck on the idea that money is the only way to be successful in this game. I guess you're one of the salty commenters who invested more than you could afford just to try and get a "boost" to your progression and are now just bitter that you cannot "pay to win".
A Loot Box is a Loot Box, no matter how you got it, the definition of a Loot Box never included that you must only be able to buy them with real money. And like I said, shards are totally needed to progress, since without them you won't be getting many champions, and they totally are loot boxes.
But well, again, since you seem to not understand it. The game clearly has loot boxes, which is something many players dislike, which is a reason why the game is disliked so much.
The game is also clearly pay2win, and many players dislike pay2win games, which is also a reason why so many players dislike this game.
And if you don't believe me, just check the negative reviews for this game. If you ignore th eones who complain about a banned account, most will complain about the money aspect, about it being pay2win or a cash grab or way too expensive or sometimes also about gambling or loot boxes.
Those are most definitively the most common reasons why players dislike the game. I just don't understand why you can't see that. After all, your question was why there is so much hate about the game and I'm pretty sure that your question was answered more than enough by several players. And just because you might not agree on those points doesn't change the answer to your question. All you really do is to try to argue against those reasons, just because you can't accept that answer, which is quite pointless, since you even asked for the reasons in the first place, most likely exactly because you couldn't understand it.
Also ...
nice bait post, but I would never pay money on this game, their shop is just way too expensive for how little you get for it. Even when I would want to pay money, I wouldn't even know on what because every single deal is just way too expansive.
Is that what you do? When you can't win an argument you decide to be insulting?
Is it really that hard to respond without having to highlight sections?
Firstly I have never said they don't exist or that they are not needed. Given how champs unlock access to certain dungeons/areas.....my argument is that you don't need to buy the shards. Which is apparently going over your head is it does not match your view point.
As I have stated already, buying shards does not grant you access to the end game as it is level capped nor does it give you "pay to win" champs as the pool is just far too large.
But not point talking sense to you, you'd prefer to die on the hill of "this game is pay to win" even though you yourself haven't managed to do so.....
Insulting? Hardly insulting....sensitive much?
Also after actually looking at your name, instead of just automatically trying to answer your question - which you really did not want the answer of - your name signifies that you appear to enjoy arguing with people for no reason. I will not give you the satisfaction.
Took you nearly 4 months to come up with a reply. Sorry not much interest in what you have to say, mostly as it is opinionated nonsense. Bye
I'm a casual gamer so I play the game for the adventure & lore. I couldn't care less about the Arena besides the Tutorial part. I've only been playing for 11 days but I already have a 3-star Void Champion & an Epic Champion. & I didn't even spend a single cent.
If I wanted to play a competitive game I'd play "War Thunder" or "War Robots" or "Paladins" or TF2. Those are [true] competitive games. But I find those games get boring very quickly because of the lack of good in-game storylines & lore.
Those're my opinions, to be honest. I think you folks should lay off your obsessions regarding competitive PvPs a bit & just enjoy the game as an adventure, not as a contest. Obsession is unhealthy.
