A2 is another matter. We still run errands, but everything is part of a larger intrigue. In addition, we play a completely different character than in the first one, who knows nothing about previous events. Of course, there are some mentions and references, but that's all.
Playing A1 before A2 helps in these ways:
+ You'll be much more familiar with the Avadon lore.
+ You'll be much more familiar with the Avadon Fortress, knowing where people are and where to get things done.
+ When someone mentions an event from the first game, you'll have a greater understanding and appreciation for its meaning.
+ You'll enjoy continuing the adventure. A2 picks up where A1 left off, albeit with a two-year gap.
+ You'll enjoy exploring brand-new regions discussed in the first game (even shown on the world map in A1).
Outside of that, you can start playing A2. It does an excellent job of bringing you up to speed. When you need to know something that happened in A1, it gives you an abbreviated version.
P.S. Hathur, what did you decide?
Last time first game was on discount was in 2015.
I don't like playing sequels with random gaps in story. So not sure why entire collection is not discounted properly for those who want to buy it, but Avadon 2 keeps getting discounted more often.
Anyway, as long as all three games don't go on discount, never buying it. Not a fan of games remaining same priced ages after release, especially when they HAVE been discounted in the past.
but hey, maybe tomorrow you ll get lucky.
