Zilla Chapter 13 Heroic Mode

Hello everyone.

I would like to platinum the game and I only have the 'Finish the game in Heroic Mode' achievement left to do.

But for this one I'm stuck in Zilla in Chapter 13 who is literally unkillable. I've regenerated it at least 15/20 times by aiming at the head when I hit it and it still doesn't die...

I've already killed him in Normal and Crazy mode and it was quite hard but not unfeasible, apart from that it's literally unfeasible.
Someone who has already succeeded (recently if possible with all the updates) to give me advice or something else please ?

(I even tried in Safe Mode to try to skip the fight)

It's somewhat bugged but it's still doable. I think limiting fps to 60 may help, also you need to find a proper angle at which slicing damages him faster than he regens. I did it and it was surely tiresome.

Or you can just play DX9 version(labeled "Windows XP") which doesn't have both Zilla fights at all.

I tried at 50 or 60 fps and it didn't help me much. And to get the Windows XP version, what can I do please? And should I start all over again?

You should see the selection which version to run when you start game from the Steam main window. If you don't see it go to game properties and there will be a dropdown list with version selection in the Launch Options section.

Hi, I beated zilla in heroic mode in both the encounters recently. First fight, in the 13 chapter, it was pretty simple. I completed 4/5 "stage" before he regenerate and than I sliced him to death with no particular problems. The real issue was the second fight in the 16 chapter. It took me 8 times before he regenerate to be able to kill him. I had no particular strategy, the only thing I can say is that if you aim at his head while using the "dragon protection power" (don't remember exactly the name, the one that activates with "backward+backward+right mouse button), you slice faster, even faster if you move a little right and left. I know it's difficult to imagine, but at least try it. This was my experience, I hope it can give you some help.

Hi, this game is great but not in Heroic mode.. Thank you very much for the advice, I'll try it and I hope it will work because these annoying things about being blocked from platinum..

I am actually in the same level. Bring him 3-4x to regeneration and let him do this. With each "round" the speed of regeneration will go slower, so in the 4th or 5th "round" his speed of regeneration will be slow enough you should be able to kill him.

Even after the 15th time it's still not slow enough for me to kill it..

I had to upgrade the + 5% crit chance skill und use my shield power while I slashed him during his generating phase. That did it for me. Took him down during his first phase. Hope this helps.

Don't restart; the fight is meant to be balanced around the regeneration he gets at 60 fps. I managed it once at 120, though there was no real point (and honestly it's such a dumb coding oversight). If you go into your graphics card control panel, you should be able to set your monitor to 30 htz, which should be more than enough to nerf his regeneration.

Does this still count for the achievement ? as heroic mode is my last achievement needed I'm struggling with Zilla on chapter 13

The game hadn't updated for ages so it should still count imo.

I'm also trying to do this and I gave up because the game kept giving me error messages. The DX9 version does not have my heroic playthrough progress, so that's not acceptable.

Eventually killed him at 30 FPS, but it's still jank. You have to attack his sword side. What a rubbish design choice.
Level 13 is just badly designed in general. It goes on for way too long and then they put you in an annoying encounter with 2 beserkers that you can't avoid because they just keep flanking you. Terrible design is terrible.
