Worth the buy?
I have been watching this game and seeing reviews and gameplay, and I just can't make a decision on whether to buy or not, how many hours of gameplay is there? Replayability? Thanks for taking the time to read. Thanks!

Well, it took me around 20 hours to beat the game once through. Now i'm starting it again. I feel like the game has a lot of replay value. There are all kinds of unlockable abilities, combos, and weapon upgrades which can make gameplay very different. They also just added survival mode.

No multiplayer but the more i play the game the more i think that isn't a con. This is one of the best singleplayer games like this i've played in a while. I'ts a very, very well rounded game in my opinion.

One thing is though, if you're going to buy it you might want to go to the humble store. it's $9 bucks there and it comes with a steam key and a downloadable DRM free copy.

I think so. my other DRM free humble stuff works like that.

Depends of what kind of game you want: if you want an asian themed painkiller: buy it. You will love it. If you want an oldschool shooter implied buy the name: skip it and buy rise of the triad instead...

It is awesome; buy it.

It's gorgeous, has smooth shooting mechanics and fantastic sword fighting. It would also appear that they have now released the long awaited survival mode.

I don't know if i'd go as far to call it an asian themed painkiller. lol.

It does a lot to change and update the series. Theres still a lot of challenge and classic fps in there. I don't want to make any assumptions but that post did sound a lot like the other people on this fourm who played 3 hours and are angry cause it actually changed.

I liked it quite a bit :) Took me 11 hours to beat it and I feel like I got my moneys worth, all $9.99 of it :boomer:

Fair enough: I'll be the first to admit I am disappointed the game feels more like painkiller then shadow warrior because I absolutely love the original. But as I said if that is what you want: you will love it! It's a good painkiller clone as far as i am concerned with a lot of extra options as far as the sword is concerned.

And to be honest I am only 4 hours in and at chapter 6 I think and at this point it has been a railroad in term of linearity. this can still change and i am still playing it: so i still like it.

Also I see classic FPS as games like doom, quake, rise of the triad, shadow warrior (classic),... I consider the painkiller kind of games not classic fps, even if i still like them and come on: shadow warrior 2013 is a painkiller type shooter or the second half of the game (or last 2/3 is a lot different then the first part) Again: it's a discussion about the type of shooter NOT about the quality of the game.

dude, since you are on the fence if buying it or not, i assume you at least know what sort of fps we talking about here: its an old-school rampage with over the top violence and waves after waves of demons out for your blood. now that we got this out of the way, the shooting is tight, the mechanics are fluid (with all the crazy powers you will be unleashing during the battles), the graphic is quite gorgeous if you ramp everything up option-wise, and it probably has the best melee combat mechanics to date in a videogame,(a BIG part of the fun in the game is mastering the katana, at least for me was) the single player campaign easily run over 18 hours solid, wich is double of what we expect on today shooters if we are lucky, and the story it surprisingly well tought of, underneath all the silly humor Wang spits out amongst the carnage. in case its not clear, if you are into old-school shooter fests, there is no excuse not to buy it.

edit: and i just noticed, its on sale right now. lol. grab it.

I actually wanted this game only because I wanted Viscera Clean up: Shadow Warrior hahah, but after playing this game for about an hour, I have completely fallen inlove with the mechanics...Yes I agree with some reviews in which the whole "OId school Wave after wave" onslaught might become a bit repetative after a while. Some Demons react differently to attacks and powers thus switching up the way you fight makes the fight not as stale. This game honestly reminds me of a Doom-Esque or Rage-Esque game but with an Asian Theme plastered all over it, and ability powers. Might not be a crazy worth of a buy at full price. But right now with a 75% discount on it. It is extremely worth the price.
