[Solved] Input lag for keyboard movement?
Yes, I have searched and seen some mention but at least what I have skimmed didn't point to a solid solution/fix... What I am seeing is serious input lag on the keyboard. Mouse seems fine, but using WASD is a problem... It seems like there is a delay before any movement starts happening (i.e. I hit W and it takes a moment for him to start moving forward), and when I am moving forward/backwards and try to strafe it's almost like the two movements cancel each other out. It's very clunky and on a game with fast paced combat (I've only tried survival as of yet) makes for a VERY short game. I've tried a few things such as making sure any extra controllers were unplugged, I've dropped the graphics settings very low to make sure it wasn't some weird graphics lag (my specs are more than sufficient to run the game well) and nothing seems to have helped. I play many other FPS games and don't have this issue, it's specific to this game. Also, my mouse/KB are Roccat with their respective software installed, so there is no Logitech software effecting either.

Anyway, any hints would be appreciated... Although I didn't pay much I'd certainly like to play, I was into the original Duke3D/Shadow Warrior/Blood/etc... :)

P.S. I should add that the game appears to be running smoothly, I don't see any stuttering or slowdowns, it's just the game breaking input lag...

SOLVED: Ok, I figured out what was causing it on my end... It was a piece of security software I'm running... Zemana Anti-Logger which is an anti-keylogger and keystroke encryption program. I had forgotten about it, and I noticed it this morning and had the thought that maybe the encryption process for the keystrokes was adding an overhead to the input the game was receiving. I shut it down and fired up Shadow Warrior and it ran perfect.

Played with my keyboard settings and the repeat rate... I turned it down to minimum and now my character moves in small delayed steps, so it doesn't like something with the repeat rate... No replies yet I've seen mention of this problem elsewhere, so no one has a fix?

I'm having the exact same issue. Haven't found a fix yet. If I plug in an xbox controller it plays perfectly, but I really want to play with keyboard/mouse. :(

Would be nice if the devs would swing by with some answeres... As they said something about paying occassionaly attention to the forums...

I don't have a delay. Wonder what's different for me.

Don't have a slightest idea what may be causing this.
And from what I see it's not a widespread issue - so may be connected to specific hardware configurations / specific driver settings or even a 3rd party software...

If you have an Nvidia card you can try setting the "maximum pre-rendered frames" to the lowest possible setting.

You will find it in 'nvidia control panel/manage 3d settings'.

I am having a similar problem with the default AWSD keys, there is pretty much no movement of the character and if you rebind it to the arrow keys it works fine. Yet, if you rebind it to any other keys there is almost no response.

I've seen this problem mentioned here and there by various people, and we see just in this thread that it's happening to others... I noticed the movement issue is affected by changing my keyboard repeat rate, and as we see above using arrow keys over WASD also makes a difference... Hopefully this is something to go on, it doesn't sound like a graphics issue.

Just for comparison's sake, I am running Roccat stuff, Isku keyboard and Kone+ mouse with the Roccat Talk software running along side the mouse/keyboard drivers/software...

You know - we are rather unable to test the game on each and every piece of equipment available on the market now or in the future.

I'm using an Alienware keyboard at the office and a Steelseries Apex keyboard at home and everything runs fine.

Hashmallum... That sounded rather defensive even though I was just trying to point out that it seems like it is a problem with some of us and trying to summarize the issue... I know you can't test every piece of hardware, so I'm not sure why you are getting your back up.

I just want to throw as much data out there as I can so hopefully we can see a commonality.

So best if you guys - those suffering this problem - could send me your dxdiag files or at least write down what kind of hardware you use and what setting for button refresh/report frequencies, screenshots of task manager process lists etc.

I remember that with our previous game Hard Reset - some people suffered input problems because of 3rd party software such as Xfire was causing the input to be not working at all or even crashing the game... The engine is the same so maybe something like this makes it laggy?

Hashmallum, I'm not running xfire or raptr or anything aside from Steam that could have an overlay that I am aware of. I'd be happy to send you my DXDIAG, do you have an email address that it would be best to send it to?

I will e-mail you mine too, thanks for your time Hashmallum.

Ok, I figured out what was causing it on my end... Just to double-check, I re-enabled Zemana and the input lag was back. So for those of you having these issues, try the game without any of your security software and see if it makes a difference!

As to Flying Wild Hog, I don't know if there is a change you can make to eliminate that for other users that might run across it, or perhaps contact Zemana and see if they can "whitelist" the game?

Holy mother of chicken nuggets... Warborg, that is exactly what my problem was too. Thanks for pointing that out. I guess I never thought about it because other games do not have that problem
.
So, to the dev, thanks for your time... and now you know if anyone else asks :D
