Are the boss fights really this bad or am I missing something?

I'm on Chapter 11, fighting the first guardian. It's one of the worst things I've ever played. Just emptying all my clips into this thing for what feels like no reason until something happens and I can take off a sliver of his actual health after getting rid of the blue crystal bar blah blah. Does it really just suck this much? I looked up some walkthroughs and none of them had voiceover explaining, and all seemed to be doing the same thing. One of them was almost fifty minutes long. I enjoy the rest of the game but there's no way I'm devoting the better part of an hour to this horrible fight when there are so many other games to play.

First, you shoot shining parts of boss's armor. After it's destroyed second "health bar" appears and you can shoot shining crystal on boss's body for some time, until armor "regenerates". Rinse and repeat. At some point you need to stand inside lit areas to open the door, and then shoot boss's wings when he closes it. Game literlaly shows you what to shoot.

Yea, the boss fights in this game are lame as hell. I'm playing on hard, so every enemy feels kinda bullet-spongey, but the bosses are on another level. Extremely tedious.

Yeah, I don't so much need help figuring it out as I was wondering if this is a known thing about this game, that the bosses suck. Seems like it is. Maybe I'll pick it back up again sometime but kinda lost me with this battle.

Which difficulty are you playing on? I dont remember bullet-spunginess being annoying until higher difficulties.

You are correct. The boss fights in this game are incredibly lame and uninspiring. I beat the game on Insane and then on Heroic difficulty. The guardian must have taken me more than 20 minutes to defeat. The bullet spongyness of those bosses is out of this world. It's extremely boring. I'll tell you something: use the charged crossbow shot and the revolver to deal with armoured bosses. That takes the armor off more quickly.

The katana guy boss fights are a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ joke too. It's bugged on PC, it's unbeatable unless you quicksave and quickload.

Save/Load is disabled on Heroic, how did you beat it if it's unbeatable?
