Cannot create a profile (Windows 10)
Alright, I think I'm like the 100th person asking this, but this error keeps happening to me, no matter what solution I'm trying(Running Steam and the game as administrator, granting full control on Documents or the Shadow Warrior folder, removing the Read Only attribute in Documents, reinstalling the game, verifying the game, etc.) None of this has solved my problem and I've already bought this game yesterday.

What do I do? Is there atleast one different solution that I haven't tried or is it my fault that I've upgraded to Windows 10?

I guess the support system sucks that no developer replied yet.

Do these in order:
1. Goto game install folder set sw.exe, dx11\sw.x64exe & dx11\sw.Win32.exe all to windows 7 compatibility mode (by dx11\ those are in dx11 subdirectory).
2. Delete 'Shadow Warrior' & 'Shadow Warrior DX11' folders from documents/my documents folder.
3. Start steam as administrator start game from steam in windows XP mode and create profile.

Dx11 should work after doing that at leas tit has fixed it for some people, the game must also be installed on a local drive.

Hello Xavier, thank you for your suggestion.

Apparently, I have did everything except the second part since there weren't any Shadow Warrior or Shadow Warrior DX11 folders in Documents, I tried searching everywhere and there was none.

I had a problem with the third. I've tried running the game in Windows XP mode, but that only left out a black screen and I couldn't do anything it. The same for Windows XP in safe mode, only difference is that it was in windowed mode.

Even setting all the files that you've listed as Windows 7 compatibility, I still couldn't solve the error.

My game is installed in the D disk, is that a problem?

Somehow its having permission issues with writing out the save files for sure, but shouldnt be able to have an issue if steams ran as admin though. Sorting out permission conflicts is hard enough in windows 7 (but at least its much more rare if ever in win 7) and i havent used windows 10 unfortunately.

This is for win 7 and the security tab itself might only be in ultimate versions of windows 7:
Youd have to right click the 'shadow warrior' & 'shadow warrior dx11' folders in my documents (create them if they dont exist) click properties then edit/give your username full access permissions to the folder in the security tab or add your username under advanced if user name doesnt exist in the list there (right click>propeties>security tab>advanced)

D disk wouldnt be an issue unless its a network drive (not installed in the pc), networked drives (such as NAS bays) dont have permission to write to local drives by default to store saves so it can cause a similar permission issue.

Wait you said the *windows XP* wouldnt start, you do have both the x64 and x86 visual C 2008 redistributables and both the x64 and x86 visual C 2012 redistributables installed right? ShadowWarriorInstallDir\_CommonRedist

Oh well it would be kinda funny if he didnt know that you need both 64 and 32 bit versions of vcredist installed too.

Still, he uses windows 10, his mistake. I've told him to not install that garbage but he didn't listened to me.

What are you talking about? I still have the game. Stay out of this discussion if you don't have anything to contribute, thanks.

I didn't said the Windows XP didn't worked, I just said that whenever I launched it in Windows XP mode, it only gave me a black screen which I couldn't do anything in it.

And yes, I have those two installed.

By both you mean both of both all 4 installed right, seems strange that XP mode just gives black screen, (it isnt actually for XP its windows 7 & 8 also but its just dx9 from before dx11 update & just kept for XP support) you could try 'repairing' the redists and also ye olde 'verify game cache' and all that but im sure you tried that already.

If you have a special gaming KB, or mouse, or any game controller some people had issues with the game with random hardware like mouses/kb/gamepads that require any company specific drivers which can cause 'exclusive mode' issues in windows 10, unplug any of those if u have any and any generic KB/mouse can fix that if its that.

Wxp mode should be able to create profile properly if you can get it to work, but the last thing i can think of to get wxp mode to work is delete D3DCompiler_43.dll & D3DX9_43.dll from game folder those are usually loaded from windows directory and may have been updated for win 10.

I cant think of anything else to try id brush it off as a windows 10 issue but tons of people have no issues whatsoever on win 10, try doing that to get xp mode to start so you can follow those orig steps i mentioned, also if for some reason u havent try dx11 32 bit if somehow that might work.

Edit: also while steam is running as admin try right clicking game in steam library and launching in safe mode/safemode dx11 if u havent.
