Game crashing on start after download and install

Hello, im having issues starting the game, i had it in my library for a while and decided to download and try it, sadly the game crashes every time i run it, i have steam as admin.

Never got to play it...

I got a win 7 64bit, gtx770, i5 2500k oc'ed

Have had no problem running this game. I have i5 2500 (not K) Windows 7 64 bit HD 5850 and don't have steam set to run as administrator and checked to make sure I don't have TLR.exe file set to any compatibility mode and I don't.

Try, as always, to verify file cache under games properties, also disable background programs because they can interfere with games running. If you bought your system at some outlet or online make sure you uninstall all the crap that is sent with it and that loads in automatically for instance Bing toolbar, Yahoo toolbar, Mcafee Antivirus, Norton, and other useless software.

You might try telling going to the NVIDIA drivers and telling them to force this game to use VSync. Otherwise it's going to try to do 500fps.

What virus scanner are you useing? There's one (the name of which I forget but it's not Avast, AVG, Norton, or McAfee) that has been breaking this game for years now.

I keep my pc fairly clean, meaning i dont have much running in the background right now (about 58 processes with "show processes from all users" most of wich are the default system and local/network services)

I only have Microsoft security essentials, i use this pc for work as well so i'm pretty careful with it, i dont use torrents or browse and download crapware from suspicious websites so i dont need an heavier and strongher AV.

About the gpu, i dont think the fps are the issue since the game crashes when the starting banner/image shows up, my gpu usage on afterburner stays at 0% when that happens.

Kind of off topic, I use Microsoft Security Essentials too, but make sure you scan with another antivirus also because MSE does not detect all of them and some of them it doesn't detect are medium level viruses. I use eset's free online scanner in conjunction with MSE to pretty much catch everything.

OK, so the funky virus scanner isn't there. You know how to look at all your running procs so I doubt it's old drivers. Have you fiddled around with the location of your profile (or your admin profile)? Some folks have moved their My Documents or their whole profile off to another drive and that tends to confuse this game for whatever reason.

Nope, didn't touched my documents, my windows is relatively fresh (reinstalled it a couple of months ago, on my yearly pc cleaning), anyway i uninstalled the game, there's no point in keeping it if i can't play it, i guess it goes to the "games that i own but never got to play" bin.

My win8 gtx640 had crush problem. Though gtx640 comes out several years after the game, one of its driver version in 2013 doesn't support the game, which is quite weird. Resolved it by upgrading gtx driver.

Good to know, maybe i had the same issue. I couldn't find the reason why the game crashed.
