Do you know any other RPG games like this i can find on steam, which you think may be better?
Combat system is somewhat random-ish which some people including me don't really like.
Other then that the graphics, story and overall gameplay are pretty decent. The game does have it's charms, but it's also flawed. Not sure can I recommend it or not, I personally gave up from it for now.
As for how long the game is, according to HowLongToBeat.com people say it's around 53-65 hours for main story and 138-160 hours for completionists.
And the grinding thing is not true for the PC version, only the xbox one. They fixed it.
The AI is quite good. Based on your unions and their member's skills, and the commands you give them, you can almost control exactly what transpires on the battlefield.
Even if you choose to heal for a turn, the union will heal where needed and if not, buffs and supports or stays on standby. Unless they are attacked, then they will fight.
I'm only at the early parts of the game but so far also you only command one of those unions for the bigger battles the other unios are computer controller and they do there own thing you can't control them not sure if this changes in the future where it will let you give commend other unions as opposed to just the one the main characters is in maybe someone who has played more can chime into to clarify if this changes later in the game.
Yes, you get as many as 5 unions to control and play with later.
How long is the game? About 40 hours, give or take, if you do most of the typical quests. There are some special battles that were added after the game released on XBox that can add more hours and playing through a second time in "plus" mode is a different enough experience to be (IMHO) pretty fun.
Are there games like it on Steam? Not really, no, though there are games that are like parts of it. It's a JRPG so, like the Final Fantasy games, expect plenty of fish people and rabbit people but don't expect to make any decisions about how the story plays out. Unlike most recent JRPGs, you can't exploit the game via grinding.
There IS a demo but it isn't a real good one. It's mostly good for seeing if your PC can run the game but it's too short to really teach you the battle system.
You can't control your characters directly - nor do you want to in this game. Why? Because you'll have 18 of them by the last third of the game! You really don't want to have to go through 18 characters and tell each one what to do every turn. So the characters are broken up into squads (called "unions" for whatever reason) and you give the squads general commands like "heal those guys" or "attack those guys with melee weapons". What command options you get starts out random but you'll learn to influence what commands show up over the course of the game.
I've certainly heard of the Persona series but never played it. Tell'm to make a PC version!
I'm afraid you are in a tricky spot. The story in this game is OK but nothing awesome. The make-or-break-it feature is really the combat. If you enjoy it, you'll love the game. If not, not. Unfortunately, I can't just point to another game and show you how combat goes. There ARE plenty of YouTube videos, though, and even videos right here on Steam. Poking through the guides could help, too.
(Luckily, it's only $10. This isn't exactly a huge risk.)
Other games you might like? Oh good, you're profile is public! Oh, not so good, ya ain't finishing much! Well, from your own backog, Witcher 1 and 2 are good stuff. Deus Ex: Human Revolution is excellent, too. Steam seems to be pushing out Final Fantasy games now, too, if you missed any of those.
I like my games like Disgea Nights (PSP GAME) Thats my type of jrpg. A game similair to Disgea Nights you can find on steam The Legend of Heroes Trails in the Sky.
Also i did went and watch videos, couldnt find good reviews, but the gameplay looked fun and all and it also looked like a game i would enjoy, despite the fact that the reviews were bad. So i went and bought it.
Oh ja, another reason for not completeing games.....i jumps alot, and never stick at 1 game. One day i feel like jrpg, other days i feel like fps....the i feel like rpg games and then ace combat games....lol so as you can see, my taste in games is a mix match
The jumpy thing is important - this game ain't easy. It's not difficult because you need precise timing, though. I think it's mostly difficult because the battle system is very new and yet doesn't pull a lot of punches. You'll get beat by the random number generator sometimes, too, which can be frustrating. If you're jumpy, you're liable to jump elsewhere and not come back. (Hopefully you'll jump to one of my guides instead!)
The bad reviews are almost always about the xbox version.
