Is this game worth playing?
I bought the game back when it was first released, and I remember I stopped playing it very early on, but couldn't remember why. I installed it today to give it another shot, but after playing for a little while all I can think about is how cringy the main character is. Not just his personality, but everything about him like his animations(and everyone else's...), his buck teeth the fact that he would just suddenly run into the middle a of a large scale battle, the way he talks to others, etc etc... I don't think I've ever cringed so much due to a single character before. So my question is basically does he get better? Does this game get better? Please tell me he either changes a lot, or gets killed off, and they introduce the real main character after his painful death.

One thing I did like about the game though was the battle system, and I could see that aspect getting pretty good.

No, but he gets a lot stronger. See 2nd answer for more infos.
Yes & No, the plot thickens as it unraveled. It changes but stay the same.
Yes & No, see 2nd and 1st answer. Let say, it's not anymore a baby bat flying towards a lamppost but Batman flying towards Gordon's floodlight.
No ... and No.

I gave the game another shot today. I found that if I switch the dialogue to Japanese audio most of the quirks I dislike about the main character are a lot less noticeable. Everything else in the game seems to be okay so far, so I'l probably finish it this time around.

Good decision! :thumbs::thumbs::thumbs:
Because the gameplay and unique battle system are well worth it.

this game is better than a lot of Final Fantasy parts
i honestly dont see everyones problem with things like the voice acting, which is top quality in nearly every single line, or rush, who is a very likeable character when youre not looking for some broody emo lightning/post ff7 cloud clone.

but the story itself becomes somewhat interesting, and the fights get more and more fun constantly. why would you stop playing a game because things that arent gameplay (character personality) arent to your liking? and whats wrong with the animations? the animations in this game are at the same level as most games, and lightyears ahead of games from bethesda. buck teeth? the hell game you playing? do you even know what that means? i honestly think youre just readin steam reviews and nut riding that, because you steam kids are always all "wahhh rush is so cringey" when he really isnt. you want cringy? look at pagus or listen to any member of his race.

I stopped playing after reaching the first town/city after meeting those cute fluffy toons. I always prefer dark gritty gothic style rpgs. Too many conversations and themes in this game just seem to juvenile for me. The only Final Fantasy I managed to finish is VI, can't stand the rest.

Your robbing yourself of one of the greatest battle systems ever conceived, and one of the most challenging games you'll ever quit. You WILL quit. It'll nag at you. You'll come back. You'll try another strategy.

Everything below is objectively true:
1. You cannot control your allies, but you can.
2. You cannot equip your allies, but you can.
3. You cannot choose your classes, but you can.

Anybody can play a Fiinal Fantasy game and Press [X] for the next cutscene, but can you play a FF game with one hand tied behind your back.

4. This game will screw you. Push the main plot forward, lose access to side quests. Push it forward some more and you lose the ability to get some companions.
5. Kill trash in this game, to level up? Be prepared to get owned. You leveled wrong. Now you're level 100 with no stats, no hit points.

Min Max 100% Completion and Low BR Run

I don't get how any of that sounds fun, at all.

Never seen a better description of this game...!

Been playing it 5 hours, then quit.
Two days later I couldn't get over it and came back.
Been playing it 50 more hours, then quit.

Been playing it 150 more hours, then quit.

Been playing it more and more hours, and I was hooked for good.

That's awesome, pink. I think, my first play through I made it to "A date with Emma", then quit. "The Fallen?", quit.

Found the wiki.
Started over.
Nailed it.

Did it again.

Fun times.
