The Last Remnant

The Last Remnant

Wards ?
Training wards I try to improve my wards but it seems harder to get higher tier spells than other mystic skills because protection or orphic ward dont always show up like other combat/mystic skills...
Wards are important for me in order to beat The Fallen I think(morale-cheers) I still couldn't beat him (BR-63)

Any suggestions ?

Put the unit under a healer's command and hope for support/setup-the-field command

only ward spell you really need is protection to nullify physical attacks of difficult bosses. for rasing morale, the psionic spell bluff/mixed message or the hex spell bewitch are much more useful. The trap ability retreat flare is an option too.

At BR 63 it's Pagus and Paris which can have Wards.
Paris as a Paladin basically is in the wrong class to consistently give you commands towards Wards as a leader.
Pagus can, if he's in Sorcerer, Healer or Bishop class. So you may want to put him in leader position.

But I don't think that Wards will give you much of an advantage in that battle, since the effect is limited to one union at a time.
As has been said before, much more important than union morale is battlefield morale, which can be raised using Psionics (Paris, Rush, Torgal, Leshau, Yuniver) or Traps (Retreat Flare -> Irina, Allan, Caedmon).
So better use Paris for Psionics. Also make use of every other Psi unit you have, in order to raise morale during the first turn.

If you have trouble with this battle, you probably lack Cachexia[lastremnant.wikia.com], which nullifies his EOT attacks if cast by a flanking union.
Don't worry, almost nobody has developed this spell if not forewarned...

Thus, healing while keeping attacking becomes vital. For that, it's best to make use of 'Keep your HP up!' or 'Heal the others!' type of commands. Very important: Always use the yellow flanking/rear assault commands, that the game provides. These commands allow units with a healer oriented class to throw in healing arts, to restore damaged unions' health before the EOT damage occurs.

Other tips for this battle:
- Disable all mystic attack arts, they are useless against a single union boss. Only use mystics for morale shifting / healing.
- Use 5 unions, not 4, for the additional rear assault slot (= morale & damage boost)
- Put your heaviest hitters into that rear assault union, together with ~2 herb healers, and use a formation which slows them down, e.g. Batwings.
- One flanking union with your second best hitters; also ~2 healers, slightly slowed down by formation.
- Put your best defensive units (e.g. one-handed w/shield) into the 3 deadlock unions. Use a formation without speed penalty.

Just to give you an idea, two videos where you can see this tactic in action.
Union setup basically is 3-3-3-4-5

Done with a good team:
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=738183653
Bottom line:
- First turn: Morale shifting, up to the max., the next turns followed by combat arts.
- The purpose of the 3 deadlock unions is not so much to deal damage but to withstand his beatings.

Done with quite a weak team from my very first playthrough:
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=673803449
Bottom line:
- Always stick to the yellow commands! Even so if a special art pops up, unless you're sure that this art would finish him for good.
- Deadlock unions die a lot; only revive them using other deadlock unions, otherwise you lose these precious flanking slots.

I hope, this explains the tactics behind this battle.

-Thank you for the information Im actually grinding with bai ze atm I have got skills including stealth with paris but Im trying to get mixed message only using stealth for this maybe its wrong and I need to use maledict V too in order to learn mixed message.

My members can deal 150-200k damage to bai ze in one turn with high morale at the moment but its harder with The Fallen because of his massive aoe spells you cant heal and deal very high damage at the same time, survived until 7 th turn which fallen began with miracle spell but couldnt kill him in time (5-5-5-3 4 union in total so it was wrong too I think) lol maybe Im still not ready for this battle coz I dont have cheer, mixed message or a skill which will max my morale instantly

Ah and by the way I have ''cachexia III'' but only Kate know this spell since we play on pc I can only stop the spell in kate's turn or Animalcule in the beginning of 4 th turn maybe I put some of my members in wrong teams..

Lol I wish I didnt miss duke of ghor it was the only quest I missed but 5 union looks much better mate thank you.

I ll keep in my mind and try your tactics too I really want to beat fallen otherwise I will miss some important things like ancient ruins..

Rush-caedmon-baulson-Allan-Gaou (no revitalize in this team

Torgal-david-glenys-blocter-Jager (1 revitalize) jager should be a leader I think...

Emmy-zolean-kate-perneth-irina (2 revitalize user here)

-paris-pagus-nikita (2 here too)

İf you see some things wrong here about unions please inform me Im not very experienced with this game yet :)

But if you have Cachexia, this battle should be peanuts...! (kind of, lol... :tgrin:)
That spell alone halves the number of turns required to beat this boss.

Just put Kate in leader position, make sure her union has the 67 AP required, disable all other attacking arts for her and the rest of the union and put that union in last union spot as well as in Batwings formation, so it consistently arrives last (flanking).
Cachexia now will always pop up and will suppress his EOT attacks.

There's no need for Mixed Message; one or two of Bluff/Addle/Dispirit/Bewitch spells in the first turn should do. Use 5 unions for the additional morale boost of the rear assault team.

If you still want to skill up for it, as you already have Stealth, just keep using any Psionics art and it eventually will pop up. Even the lowest ranked art will count.

Yeah will do thank you :)

My hardest hitting team is rush's team they should be in flank slot just before the kates squad (last rear assault) right ?

I want to put them in correct order

Well thank you !

Looking at your units, I'd probably dump Nikita & Glenys and hire Yuniver & Sibal instead.
Yuniver for morale, Sibal for throwing in herbs during battle. Disable all other arts on these two units.

Next I'd start trying a union setup like this:

Deadlock unions:
Rush-David-Paris (Morale, Combat, Healing, Omnistrike)
Torgal-Baulson-Pagus (Combat, Healing, Lugh's Revenge)
Emmy-Yuniver-Gaou (Morale, Combat, Healing, Hundred Flowers)

Flanking union:
Kate-Perneth-Zolean-Sibal (Cachexia and herb healing. I hope their AP adds up to more than 67)

Rear assault:
Jager-Caedmon-Blocter-Irina-Allan (Pure combat plus Irina's Remedies/Retreat Flare and Jager's Beowulf)

To make sure that the flanking/rear assault union gets into the right slot, you have to experiment a little with union spots and formations. You probably can use Melee for the 3 deadlock unions, Batwings for the rear assault union and have to find the right formation for the flanking union.
Try Picket Fence, Mystic Shield or Vampire if you have them.

OH MY GOD THE FALLEN FALLS !! Your tactic was perfect and it worked in the 1 st try !!
Using the Kate-cachexia in the last spot was the key it made it tooo easy lol .... THANK YOU MAN !
Awesome! Congrats for beating him!
As I told you, with Cachexia this battle becomes almost easy...!

But I think you now experienced the battle tactics for this type of enemy. There will be more of this kind in the battles to come. Good luck for that!
