The Last Remnant

The Last Remnant

Similar JRPG Titles?
Loving the game. Mainly it's the leader acquisition and deep character customization on top of being a turn based JRPG that reminds me of like a Final Fantasy Tactics and it's job system. Though looks like I'm starting to get close to it's end.

Anyone know of any turn-based JRPGs with a similarly deep ability/job/recruit system? This one kind of came out of nowhere for me so I'm hoping there are other good ones I've missed.

It being on steam would be nice, but fine with suggestions on any current or older consoles.

This game is very unique in how the battle system and party member aquisition works. I haven't come across anything like it yet, hence I've clocked over 1000 hours on it lol

Honestly, this game is quite unique and I do not believe there IS another game...at least with a battle system like Last Remnants', BUT...I would love to introduce you to an amazing....Amazing game developer...similar in idea/lore/ and gameplay in general to many of Square Enix's titles. The dev company's name would be: Mistwalker. This has got to be one of my favorite jrpg dev's ever. Their games are spread across many platforms so may be a tad inconvenient, but the first one to start with that is damn huge in scale and grand in quality (I think it was maybe 3-4 discs) and I believe was one of the first worthwhile jrpg's for...Xbox 360. That game is called "Lost Odyssey," and its a hidden gem not many people I know even have heard of it, even huge jrpg fans, but they DO end up loving it and adding it to their top ten rpgs of all time list, I know I did. Also, if you have a NDS or an emulator for nds, then they released a game in Japan only sadly...BUT...over the course of like 4 years an amazing person translated that game to English...the entire game...and did a damn good job of it....you should easily be able to find the ROM packaged with that english translation now. That game is called "Archaic Sealed Heat," and its a unique strategy RPG kinda in the same realm of FF tactics and Fire Emblem..mix those two games' battle system's together, and add "squads" kinda JUST like in Last Remnant how you have one or two Heroes per squad, then some generic other player classes to support those heroes etc...3-4 squad groups in ASH, but on a gridded map screen. The game has very well done cinematics (also translated in subtitles), of course a skill/weapons/armor and accessories progression system and class system as well. ASH is absolutely one of another very unique..never gonna see again type game...kinda like Last Remnant. Mistwalker has a few other games scattered across other platforms...Wii, etc. Also, currently has a mobile game for IPAD/IPhone or android. Hard to explain haha..but its another strategy RPG...but very unique mechanics and story and progression system...free to play...everything in the game available you can get without using real money...its been out for maybe 2 years now...and i still play it daily. Also...every time they reach a new amount of players playing the game, they add new content to the game from...a NEW dev/game artist etc every time..some less known, some very famous like from the final fantasy crew, etc...lots of cross dev. and cross game world events. Game is called "Terra Battle."

Well, I think this is a good amount to chew on =D If you manage to get to play any of the above mentioned games, hit me up and let me know what you thought.

Oh god. I wish they'd bring Lost Odyssey to Steam.

If you got emulators, try Soul Nomad and World Eaters. Otherwise, you might want to try Phantom Brave (it allows for 13+ party in a battle so it is pretty massive) or mod XCom2 party size to as much as you wanted. My Xcom2 was modded for 18 party sizes but the enemy number and health are twice of it so battles are pretty massive with overwatch reacts here and there.

Not on Steam, but if you pick up a PS2 emu like PCSX2 and hit up emuparadise to download some of the Suikoden series ( recomend to start with 5, then 1, 2, (1 & 2 requires a PS1 emu) 3 and 4 if you want)

Not one of you recommend the predecessor of the game?

Go get an emulator and try Romancing Saga : Minstrel Song on PS2. Artwork need time to get use too (everyone is rather hobbitist there) but the gameplay and how the game work resemble this game

Haven't played yet but I purchased it because it sounded like the old tactics ogre series.
