Only way to currently get the game on Steam is if anyone has any existing gifts or keys for it willing to trade or sell.
Square enix released the remaster on PS4, removing this from steam served as advertizing to remind people that this game existed, and since it was at a much lower price and barely anything was improved outside of lighting on the remaster compared to the PC version they went for comparisons with the lesser xbox360 version for their official ads.
Square enix might or might not port the remaster to PC in a few years, but I wouldn't bet on it.
Honestly I would buy an overpriced port and a bit remaster of Chrono Cross, or even Parasite eve2 (just examples) over this.
Sorry for being so negative but let's be honest... The game looks worse, from what i saw. Is the PC remaster still using UE3? Will the only thing changed by few files and leveling... and they want to ask us to buy the same again. at least from the current news and info available that's what i think...
As for the "is it any good", it's a very flawed turn-based RPG, but it has a whole lot of things that makes it extremely unique compared to pretty much everything else, and it has quite a lot to offer if you can get used to the flaws.
For example, it discourages grinding weaker foes and rewards fighting longer battles against tougher enemies, it has quite a lot of skills and classes for your characters, there are a whole lot of side quests, many of which you can completely miss (there are even a few places where the main quest line never takes you that you need quests and exploration to unlock).
The downside is that there are a lot of informations that are hidden from you without a third party tool, you don't have a full control over equipment of your team (except your main character) or over the attacks used in battle (you can influence the system to get what you want but there is always a level of randomness to it), the "BR" is made to look like a ranking of your power when in fact it is completely unrelated to your team's stats, skills or equipments (and it serves as a basis to give more power to enemies and bosses instead) and the story is incredibly generic (a bit more western than usually in JRPGs but still) and the very early game can be a bit dull since you don't have access to much (not many characters to use, not having access to any of the fun advanced skills and such, and the introduction/tutorial battles are nearly impossible to lose)...
If you enjoy turn-based RPGs and want to try out something that is really different than the rest, it is not a bad idea to give it a try, since you own it anyway, it is very much a love it or hate it kind of game so you should be able to tell which one it is for you (you should probably know for sure if you enjoy it or not by the time you reach the "plant" boss or the fire idol boss).
