PZ drew me in initially but I must admit when I first opened the game I thought I had bought a pig in a sack.
Incomprehensible layers of menus and funny little retro-spritey character jerking around the screen.
The apparent depth of the game made me want to know more and a few YT videos later I am now almost 50 hours in and committed. Or is that commitable?

Zombie minecraft

I've played the free version of this game for.... I've lost count. Probably hundreds of collective hours. This game has the deepest, most elaborate game mechanics I've ever encountered. I found a bike, attached a battery from a car, a motor I got from a washing machine, and some vehicle controls I yanked out of a car and built an e-bike. I've extended out the space in an RV and equipped the insides with shelves to hold dried food. Making yourself into a superhuman mutant cyborg is fun too. Highly recommend if you want to get thoroughly sucked into a game.

It takes time to really learn this game but it is so worth it! I also am still learning this game as well. Be prepared to die many many times. My how the hours rack up when your having fun!

GOAT

Man, I love playing this game. I'm always hesitant to start again, but once I do, I can't stop. I'm not good at it, and I don't think I ever will be, but as long as it keeps giving me something new, I'll keep bashing my head against the wall.

In my first game I spent 20 min learning the controls and once I figured it out somewhat I tried to bash the person in the evac shelter to death with a claw hammer and they killed me

My second game I decided to roll a random character in the FEMA Evac start and spawned with a motor cycle, I was super excited to use a vehicle and took ages figuring out how to work it, I proceeded to press foreword all the way to the max and then skip a turn where I promptly crashed into the wall of the Evac shelter and died.

My third game I started in a safe place as a lumber jack, It was out in the wilderness and it was so safe, I then tried to bush survive and ended up becoming to emaciated and depressed from lack of cigarettes that I tried to find any society where there may be food and smokes, I found a hunting lodge but was chased by zombies to the roof where there where bottles of liquor everywhere on the roof for some reason, so I drank myself black out drunk because there was no way I was escaping alive.

I can clearly see this is a great survival game, I can see all the traces of it in the little crafting and surviving I have done, I'm just ♥♥♥♥ at the surviving part so far.

Ignore the hours played as I've been playing this game since release 0.C back sometime in 2015. I've probably put thousands of hours into this game and things have only gotten better and better as the years have gone on...

I do have to warn new players looking to get into the game or wondering weather or not they should try it that this game has massive learning curves with systems that have weird interactions with one another and plenty of jank in between. You will die countless times over and over again trying to grasp some of the basics, dealing with the many creatures and even just getting plain unlucky. CDDA really is a truly unforgiving survival game.

If you just want a fun survival experience, this really is not the game for you. If you want a brutal survival experience, are running a potato (how I started out playing this game) and have nothing else to play or even just a veteran of CDDA and games like it like Unreal World or Dwarf Fortress this is definitely a must buy.

Many more hours on my work laptop. The greatest game i've ever had the pleasure of playing. Just perfect.
