That was a rage uninstall. Now I'm depressed.
Playing current stable.
Started near and started living in a sugar house.
Make raids into the nearby trailer park.
Find an unusual amount of potatoes.
Make seeds and plant them.
Get charcoal production up and a full setup with butcher rack and smoking racks.
A zombie in a trailer dropped a flintlock pistol with 118 paper cartridges.
Hunt, dehydrate meat, live off my bounty.
Walk outside one day and find most of my potatoes gone.
A moose ate over 30 plants
Blow mooses head off like a pirate.
Make hundreds of extra preserved meat.
Clear out a room and set up power with about 10 solar panels and storage batteries.
Set for months.
Explore the hell out of the area.
Loot everything I can.
Read a library worth of books and also finally get battery recharging set up.
Scan books into my phone so I have permanent easy access to all my recipes.
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ awesome.
This is my most successful run in as long as I can remember.
Go back around to all the trailers and loot plastic bags for vacuum sealing.
Actual permanent food storage.
Realize my clothes are pretty tore up.
Go back around to the trailers again and loot all the soap I can to recycle zombie clothes.
Decide it'll be more fun to just make my own clothes.
Yet another trip around the trailer park and loot and cut up clothes to start practicing tailoring.
Get setup back at my base and start browsing through the armor crafting menu.
Game crashes.
Last save when before the moose ate my crops.
Delete folder, empty recycle bin.
I'm pretty bummed out.

That happened to me yesterday on experimental. I just closed cdda and played a 4 hr game of 1841 instead 😆

However i feel your autosave frequency should be faster than you describe. In my settings it says autosave every 50 turns or every 5 minutes of real time. Maybe you could reduce those. It sounds like you lost more than 5 minutes of play though so maybe you have different settings.

Yeah, default autosave is pretty often. You can change the frequency, or turn it off, in the options.

I turn autosave off because I just don't like being randomly paused it breaks my train of thought.
But I mean, this game never crashes for me. Usually losing a run like this is because I throw a grenade as far as I can, the explosion will be off screen but a piece of shrapnel will still managed to give me arterial bleeding.
Just crazy crap like this.
But yeah.
I didn't even mention like sleeping in the back of the sugar house when the first portal storm hits and two bandits run inside out of nowhere and start beating me in my bed with belts only for me to kill them both with my hatchet.
That event was made scarier because the day before I was clearing a new section of the trailer park and a mi-go starts closing in on me.
Pull out my shotgun and....birdshot doesn't hurt mi-gos.
Switch back to hatchet and just barely make it flee with nearly no torso health left.
Still need to fight a small group of zeds that my shotgun blast attracted.
Get home, heal up a few torso bars and wake up getting beaten with belts.
Had a lot of great experiences on this file and then poof.
