Not Free?
So I saw this reviewed on YT and they said it was a free game. I notified them that it was not, that it was $20 as the price tag shows and they were very rude and told me I was a moron if I couldn't get it for free.

So why is this not free if the reviewer says the Dev said it was free? Am I missing something somewhere? some Nuance about "$19.99" that equals "its a free game you moron"?

It is available for purchase on Steam to support the project.

It is available for free elsewhere.

Google can help you out.

Does it support the project though? There has been zero commits from the dev who put this on steam since April 12th, or am I missing something?

Nope, that just about sums it up.

It also doesn't support the "project", it supports exactly one contributor who as noted has not been active in half a year (and very spottily active before that).

There are thousands of contributors who will not see a penny out of any money you spend on steam.
Quite sad really. I remember when it was released and there was a bunch of people trying to convince people that it wasn't some shady cash grab. Other so called devs too, they seem to have been silent since April as well.

It usually take us a least a year to release a new stable. I don't know what Korg's plans are for the steam release, but since it only ships stable and we haven't released any new stable yet it makes sense that there's nothing new to release here.
Sure thing, however I am more surprised by the complete lack of anything from the guy who was trying to make this a full time job. It just seems rather odd.

If you enjoy Magiclysm or the item creator, then You still have to give KorGgen some credit, his work has made everyone's efforts easier. Personally feel that he has put more effort in than Kevin.

This is a scam attempt to monetize an open source project. DO NOT give these guys ur money, download and play the free version.
Fris0uman Nov 15, 2023 @ 11:15pm
It's literally on the description page of the game:

> What do you get for purchasing the Steam Edition of CDDA?
> [...]
> A chance to help the CleverRaven team in supporting one of our long-term developers, working on one of the best open-source games on the internet.

But yeah if you're not interested about that go grrab the free version. The point of buying the steam version is to get the steam features and donate to Korg.

It's okay mate, you don't need to defend him so fiercely. The guy has done absolutely nothing and left you to fight his corner.
Fris0uman Nov 17, 2023 @ 12:00am
Korg has done some massive overhaul of the game, he is the reason magic is actually moddable in the game. Don't buy the steam version if you don't want to but you don't need to be a ♥♥♥♥ about it.
No one is being a ♥♥♥♥ so I am not sure why you would even say that.

So are you now saying the money goes to support the work korg previously did on the game and not the whole gonna be a full time dev of the game that was touted in April? I mean this would explain his complete lack of work since April.

So much wasted potential here. Dev could have ushered in a thriving community here, and benefited greatly from giving CDDA a commercialized focus. Big fumble.
