now watch this post disappear when I ask exactly how many contributors to CDDAs development will get a share of the money earned from steam
https://cataclysmdda.org/steam_faq.md
It is 1 (ONE) person. One person takes all the money earned from the steam version minus gabens take.
And I gotta applaud the moderation teams reflexes, it took them somewhat under a minute to delete the post you are replying to, and then just under 2 minutes to undelete it once they realized it looks bad leaving your reply up but deleting the post you replied to.
Oh but there is a very particular reason why they might wish to actively enforce this specific rule nobody should really cares about. That particular reason happened a couple of years ago and discussion of which has been since been largely banned from most CDDA related platforms.
like, nethack and ADOM.
i get it that the nethack is "Vulture for Nethack" and i actually bought that one. . vullture for nethack seems to be a graphical upgrade from the free version, which must be why it's okay
i'm assuming that they can do this , because they added features to distinguish it from the free open source versions?
what does this version have that the free one doesn't?
edit : and since wen was it against the rules to talk about a game other than the one the forum is about?
also, if it's against the rules, then why did Valve literally put code on the forums coding to allow people to post links to the store pages of other games and then it shows an image preview and a link to the store page to buy said game.
if they didn't want people doing that, then why did they encode their forums to enable it?
This version has presently two added value features: cloud saves and graphical achievements. Workshop is in the prep phases now but I don't think korg is far enough to promise it as a feature. There are a few other things upcoming but I'd like to keep them surprises, and I'd say they're more for fun than for value anyway.
Depending on your mileage on these of course, I don't really think this version is designed to be a huge upgrade from the free game. The primary added value is that you're giving one of our most prolific and long-standing Devs some support so that he can work on some of the high demand features and not have to take as many hours in other jobs.
