Is this legit?
I mean it's not the first time someone outright try to sell this game on another platform. Plus this game is basically open sourced soo... whos guranteeing that this is legit?

most of the people youre arguing with are devs by the way, in fact most people posting in the steam forums right are CDDA devs
now watch this post disappear when I ask exactly how many contributors to CDDAs development will get a share of the money earned from steam
Devs have answered this question multiple times on here and reddit already. They've even explained it on the website.

Thanks for letting me know not to purchase this game since you want to restrict people even mentioning an alternative.
So you're going to boycott the entirety of steam too right? It's literally against the rules to advert any other game on discussion boards besides the one being discussed about. This is you being ignorant.

Wow this uber over moderating is real. Have fun trolling the people who are actually supporting you. Real classy. Straight up deleting conversations for petty reasons.

Okay then. "Mentioning" another game on a discussion board that's not the game being discussed is against the rules. Is that better for you to understand?

Never seen it enforced. In ANY of the forums for any game I own. It's a weak defense for what's clearly a lack of faith in the product.

You haven't been on the discussion boards to have seen it enforced then. Steam mods have deleted posts and comments all the time regarding this. Even locking posts.

Not in the good ones. Whatever, i'm beating a dead horse at this point. I said my piece. Doubt you'll even leave my comments here anyways. None of you are understanding the problem your causing for yourselves. Have at it. I'm out.

Okay how about I assign a numerical value to the amount of people who get a share from money earned from steam since it there seem to be difficulties in discussing this topic.

It is 1 (ONE) person. One person takes all the money earned from the steam version minus gabens take.

And I gotta applaud the moderation teams reflexes, it took them somewhat under a minute to delete the post you are replying to, and then just under 2 minutes to undelete it once they realized it looks bad leaving your reply up but deleting the post you replied to.

I mean, if you actually take the time to read the devs comments on Reddit and the website, it all explains why Korg is receiving the funds.

I get that the urge to get defensive is high, especially with a lot of people questioning your motives, but becoming one of 'those' devs really isn't going to help. If you want the game to have any kind of success on Steam, calmly discussing the issues with people is going to be a better bet than just being snarky and deleting comments you don't like.

Oh but there is a very particular reason why they might wish to actively enforce this specific rule nobody should really cares about. That particular reason happened a couple of years ago and discussion of which has been since been largely banned from most CDDA related platforms.

Believe it or not, we actually had a Valve employee delete the first thread in that vein that we had left up. When in Rome and all that.

i do sometimes scratch my head, when i keep seeing these old school open source roguelikes that have been available for free for decades being sold for money on steam.
like, nethack and ADOM.
i get it that the nethack is "Vulture for Nethack" and i actually bought that one. . vullture for nethack seems to be a graphical upgrade from the free version, which must be why it's okay

i'm assuming that they can do this , because they added features to distinguish it from the free open source versions?

what does this version have that the free one doesn't?

edit : and since wen was it against the rules to talk about a game other than the one the forum is about?
also, if it's against the rules, then why did Valve literally put code on the forums coding to allow people to post links to the store pages of other games and then it shows an image preview and a link to the store page to buy said game.
if they didn't want people doing that, then why did they encode their forums to enable it?

AFAIK the "no other games" thing is coming from valve, they've taken down a few posts about other games. I couldn't tell you why the API appears to support it.

This version has presently two added value features: cloud saves and graphical achievements. Workshop is in the prep phases now but I don't think korg is far enough to promise it as a feature. There are a few other things upcoming but I'd like to keep them surprises, and I'd say they're more for fun than for value anyway.

Depending on your mileage on these of course, I don't really think this version is designed to be a huge upgrade from the free game. The primary added value is that you're giving one of our most prolific and long-standing Devs some support so that he can work on some of the high demand features and not have to take as many hours in other jobs.
