i just build my own cable suspending structures. the following bridge works if used at 80% of simulation speed, as u can see on the slider setting.
It starts breaking if starting the test on higher or lower speed,
thanks to physics engine.
The storm/wind stability is kinda random, but worked for me 3 times now, i think with 50% or 80% speed.
If it breaks couse of strom, it just rips off all longer cables.
For the bus testing u can reduce simulation speed to 30% for less stress...
Underneath structure is hand-built for less weight, so only one cross bar on middle platforms.
Take a look at these pictures: (if it works)

edit: i forgot the crossbars on the right side lower arms, left side has got em.
works anyways but isnt symmatrically there.
For this Game&Engine the Golden Gate Bridge (Cablewise) would
just break into pieces ;-)
Have you tried building a suspension bridge with your own supports though?
Often tried because it "should be easier"
and in the end always built something different that worked.
I even tried it in one level to add the suspension cable just for 2 points in the middle, to help against the test-storm. ... ...
End of the Story:
The bridge didnt break without that cable, but with only the cable added
AND NO CONNECTIONS AT ALL to the bridge structure => it broke! Cool thing.
less is more :P
worked for me ... just try 2-3 times till the cable in the middle does not break and the bridge will hold
cablebridges completly suck in this game ... i think the reason is, that the editor uses some kind of parabolic function for the strong cables, wich is wrong .... it should be some cosh function
make the cable only and start the simulation without any roads or anything, then you will see how the cable SHOULD be placed right away in the editor .. wich sadly is not the case and completly ♥♥♥♥♥ this whole cable stuff
