How do you make official times? So you get points? When I drive it doesn't make official times, only training times.

You need to have bought it, rather than be using the free version.
Then you need to be on a track you have a gold medal in training on.

I did buy it, I do have gold, but I only get to do an official every 5 mins or so. Is that normal?

Yes. It's to stop you spamming attempts and fluking a good time. You have to actually be good enough at a track before trying it or you're wasting your run.
Spend the 5 minutes in training for the track you're going to attempt.

There is a trophy symbol and a time on the right side of the screen that shows you how long you have to wait until you can do your next official try.

I kinda like this change. I still have over 19,000 coppers from TMUF which means I can play tracks for official times 1900 times without waiting (10 coppers per official time).

This way each run is more important because you can't just jump right into an official run immediately if you crash or don't get the time you wanted.

I like this change too, makes it even more challenging.

If you were referring to the post you quoted, he was pointing out how many times he could do official runs in TMUF. He wasn't implying he can use his coppers in TM2 as far as I read it?

I'm not a 5 minute delay fan. I set personal record after personal record, then hit official race, screw up the second turn and flip over, and then I can't do anything for 4.5 minutes. I don't need more practice, I need a reset.

I just bought this and can only seem to play "official" mode on the very first map (A01). Is official not supported on A02 right now?

I've beaten the gold times on both A01 and A02.

you can set an official time every 5 minutes... when the timer near the trophy on the right say 00:00, the next attempt you can choose to set an official time or continue practicing

Right, I'm saying there's never an option to try an official time on any map except the very first one, even after waiting.

For me, it's the bad side of TM (copper or not copper). In an official race, you want absolutely do your best. This is stressful. Any problem immediately becomes a source of frustration.

I think every race should be official. Why it isn't so? To reduce costs (servers, bandwidth)?

What happens if you press "Keep training" instead of "Play Official"? Do you have to wait 5 min again? I have been too scared to try ;)
