The new features and blocks are alright, the car handles as the previous Stadium cars, which is good.
The bad part is how Ubisoft riddled it full of membership crap. You cant make your own levels unless you buy membership and some other features are also locked behind membership. Also the car editor seems to be somehow even worse than in previous games.
Overall - I think the game is going to fail and cause many players not to play it because of the subscription restrictions. They should've just sold the game for 10 bucks or more, then it would be worth it at least.
I can't find any info about editor.
No opinion on subscription yet. I want play game and see editor first.
And can you still share tracks on tm-exchange.
but :
- no access to community until you pay : that mean no custome server nothing no custom map etc ...
- i like the ui . it is clearer than in the other .
- no VR !!!
-pay access per year / but it is cheap (10€) for the basic if you don't create anything like tracks etc ...
i think nadeo create great games but they lost me everytime .
so much trackmania games . so much mods . you are lost in all this games and mods .
thats how they put to death stormania etc ... even if it was awesome games : menu, different mods looking like different games etc ... completely lost .
we need to just start the game : select the mod and play but all the nadeo universe was a hudge fail . different currency different menu for the same things etc ...
just create a Trackmania games with everything and let us play . like the old TMU but with clearer UI and menu navigation etc ...
I'll wait for sale especially that it's not in Steam. Would like to see first what custom tracks other ppl do first to see what's possible.
1 year is plenty of time play multiplayer for me.
Trackmania 2 at least delivered a full package at full price.
With 2020 they obviously figured it would be a great idea to split up the playerbase with their incomprehensible subscription scheme. Lots of various features blocked off, no real editor, no custom made stuff unless you subscribe. There is too much stuff wrong with that...first and foremost Trackmania in itself is a lowfi development game, the fun is entirely community driven. Their tech seems terribly ancient, why try to cash in on stuff (on a yearly ) basis, instead of just making a damn package, pay once, play forever, play together.
If you look at the timeline of Trackmania releases (i got all the other installments since Trackmania Original), the offering gets worse and worse each time. I could stomach TM2 releasing all the environments as individiual packages, that was still okay, but this new release simply doesn't really warrant even installing the free version. Yearly subscriptions, for a casual editor driven racer, just not my cup of tea. I am afraid I'd eventually waste alot of that subscription time with he game just sitting there. It is just not a good offering and the 25 free tracks...well, that is just not enough compared to what you get with previous versions.(Remember how the old trackmania games had various single player modes, puzzle and such...where has all that stuff gone?)
I wonder what went wrong with Nadeo, they seem more detached from the gaming crowd with each new iteration.
Trackmania is still one of my most cherished games from the days of yore and I keep coming back to it regularly. But with their newer releases the stuff gets more barebones and the monetization seems outlandish for a game of this type. Triple A pricepoint for yet another rehash of the Stadium environment.
This could become the nail in the coffin for the franchise.
If there was actually anything in there....but as it seems now...we got a reskin with a very limited feature set. The subscription bollocks is just the icing on cake.
Yes, I think the game looks good. But I won't even get close to that. I am not a great player. I play this mostly for relaxing and not for e-sport competitive stuff. So...
