I've only played the free and the demo tables.
Lowest settings gets you 60 frames running 800p.
Medium low will get you 30 frames. Running 1080p.
In-table text can be hard to read or just plain unrecognizable.
Graphics at these settings are not as good as PB Fx3 or Fx2.
Play wise, it is very playable and smooth.
This version pushes the the Deck's hardware a little.
Playing with settings might balance it out a little better, maybe Valve can work some kind of magic with Proton and Shader Cashe.
This menu is bloated, hopefully it will be a little cleaner on steam, but doubtful. Menu's of Fx3 are much better.
I will be getting the steam version, just for the new tables. My daughters are loving the DreamWorks and ponies cartoon tables. I will be trying the Gearbox and Godzilla.
Keeping FX3 for the 100 established ones.
And yes I will play mainly on the Deck, my laptop if really in a pinball mood.
And there are a lot of tables I didn't tried yet that might crash as well.
It keeps freezing at one point or another....I have changed the resolution (in game and in the deck settings to 1280-800) and while it loads up faster I still get to the pinball machine sitting there and when I select it to play......it just locks up......I have tried 3 different tables with the same result.
Any ideas or suggestions?
Are you running any Compatibility?
I played a few games of Curse of the Mummy and Homeworld and didn't crash, so if it's still happening it's at least not constant. I've mostly been playing Twilight Zone though.
If you're having trouble with things crashing or locking up, take a look at Cryo Utilities to tweak the swap and VRAM settings. This is what ultimately got Midnight Suns to stop crashing for me, and it's possible it's still helping here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C9EjXYZUqUs (the utility does most of it, but the VRAM change needs to happen in the Deck BIOS settings, and a walkthrough is near the end of the video).
I'm not certain if the file you edit is in the same place since this post was about Epic.
Oddly, the Epic version which was installed using Heroic Game Launcher, did not crash or freeze.
I believe this will be fixed via a patch. I seen somewhere that unwanted code or files where unintentionally left in. Maybe that could be a cause.
Here is the setup I'm using: using latest Proton GE (GE-Proton7-55), and the following launch options;
PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 PROTON_HEAP_DELAY_FREE=1 %command%
I can't either, I get to the screen showing the table and it freezes when I hit the A button to play.
