Steam Deck support
Question to anyone who played early access version, is it working on steam deck? I've heard it's worse than fx3 in both graphics and performance.

It is playable. About 2 and a half hours of playtime on a full battery.

I've only played the free and the demo tables.

Lowest settings gets you 60 frames running 800p.
Medium low will get you 30 frames. Running 1080p.

In-table text can be hard to read or just plain unrecognizable.
Graphics at these settings are not as good as PB Fx3 or Fx2.
Play wise, it is very playable and smooth.
This version pushes the the Deck's hardware a little.
Playing with settings might balance it out a little better, maybe Valve can work some kind of magic with Proton and Shader Cashe.

This menu is bloated, hopefully it will be a little cleaner on steam, but doubtful. Menu's of Fx3 are much better.

I will be getting the steam version, just for the new tables. My daughters are loving the DreamWorks and ponies cartoon tables. I will be trying the Gearbox and Godzilla.
Keeping FX3 for the 100 established ones.

And yes I will play mainly on the Deck, my laptop if really in a pinball mood.

They need to optimize this game like a lot. I will stick to FX3 for my Steam Deck. Meh.

I installed it on my Steam Deck and it works fine after changing the resolution to 1280x800. It probably will not get verified because I think the text is too small. It really does heat up the Deck and burn through the battery.
Curse of the Mummy and Homworld tables should make the game crash on the steam deck. did you tried these tables for a few minutes? I don't know what triggers the crash though, but after several minutes it should crash for you too.
And there are a lot of tables I didn't tried yet that might crash as well.

Initially I had very bad flipper lag (to the point the flipper would ‘stick’) and other lag issues on my steam deck but lowering shadows and post processing effects cleared that up and I am no longer having that issue

I have been trying to get this to run on my Steam Deck, but not having any luck so far.

It keeps freezing at one point or another....I have changed the resolution (in game and in the deck settings to 1280-800) and while it loads up faster I still get to the pinball machine sitting there and when I select it to play......it just locks up......I have tried 3 different tables with the same result.

Any ideas or suggestions?

So far Curse of the Mummy is the only table that has crashed on my Steam Deck.

Are you running any Compatibility?

With the resolution set to 1280x800 and low settings + FXAA, the game is running on my Steam Deck at a solid 60 fps when playing and no input lag as far as I can tell. The menus are rougher on the FPS than the tables, but the worst hits appear to be when loading data (like the table preview videos) - I have it installed on the microSD, so that might make a difference.

I played a few games of Curse of the Mummy and Homeworld and didn't crash, so if it's still happening it's at least not constant. I've mostly been playing Twilight Zone though.

If you're having trouble with things crashing or locking up, take a look at Cryo Utilities to tweak the swap and VRAM settings. This is what ultimately got Midnight Suns to stop crashing for me, and it's possible it's still helping here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C9EjXYZUqUs (the utility does most of it, but the VRAM change needs to happen in the Deck BIOS settings, and a walkthrough is near the end of the video).

I'm not certain if the file you edit is in the same place since this post was about Epic.

I can't even get tables to launch

The game in general runs mostly fine for me, but I have crashes rather often on Curse of the Mummy, and on Noir. Looking at crash logs seems to show an Access Violation as the cause.

I have also been having a lot of crashing and start-up freezing on the Steam version.

Oddly, the Epic version which was installed using Heroic Game Launcher, did not crash or freeze.

I believe this will be fixed via a patch. I seen somewhere that unwanted code or files where unintentionally left in. Maybe that could be a cause.

I got the crash in Noir on my Linux Desktop as well, so it doesn't seem to be specific to the Steam Deck.

I might have found a solution to Steam Deck issues with certain tables, maybe for regular linux installs too (will test my desktop linux later today). I messed around with some Proton launch options and found a set that seem to work. I've played 6 games of Curse of the Mummy without a crash (before I was lucky to finish one), and I finished a have of Noir (before I never got to finish a game).

Here is the setup I'm using: using latest Proton GE (GE-Proton7-55), and the following launch options;

PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 PROTON_HEAP_DELAY_FREE=1 %command%

I can't either, I get to the screen showing the table and it freezes when I hit the A button to play.
